Josh McDaniels

What are your thoughts on McDaniels?

Is it deja vu with him? Get to the post season scoring a lot of points but in championship game only score 17 and below? Does he adjust to what the other team is doing?

Tell us how you feel about McDaniels.

Re: Josh McDaniels

Scooter has improved, but he's got a ways to go. He adjusted well to the loss of key personnel vs. HOU, and adjusted crappy to the Ravens not falling for the hurry-up.

Didn't use Fells as a blocker when Hooman and Herny were having trouble blocking. Didn't use Bolden to soften up the Ravens D. They have a 250# FB on the PS they didn't activate. Didn't switch to Vereen quick enough. Woody had some big plays but they didn't use him enough either.

Sometimes you just have to pound the ball for a couple quarters before the big plays open up. You have to stick with it. Against a good defense like BAL or SF, you can end up going 3-and-out on 3 runs as easy as 3 passes - as we saw Sunday. And if the D knows you're afraid to run, they tee off on your QB.

The hurry-up offense he and BB have installed is pretty clever. But when it's not working, and when your QB is having a bad day, you better be ready to punch the D in the face and run the damn ball. And he won't do that.

Re: Josh McDaniels

Going for longer shots and not going to the open shorter receiver was a big deal (as you said Woody, but there were others).

That and simply not making plays ala Welker, Vereen and Lloyd.

Re: Josh McDaniels

In the Baltimore game I thought some poor execution by players was a bigger problem than the play calling. - He does have a tendency however to go for the long-bomb (a bad percentage play) more than I'd like, - drives me nuts.

I am tired of running that quick offense with the run.It didnt catch the ravens by surprise and they where force to kick a fg.I seen numerous times in the season they tried that and failed! Idk this team's cap situation but they need somebody else on the outside next to LLoyd.

Re: Josh McDaniels

You mean like the 4th and one with Woodhead getting the 1st down near the half?

Re: Josh McDaniels

They ran it on 3rd down. How about mixing it up at times and run a play action pass.It seems like there was no adjustments maded by this offense in the second half.Just brutal stuff. After Welker dropped that pass, the team just went away literally! This team really needs some speed on the outside, just to keep teams honest.A long deep pass keeps the defense on their toes.

Re: Josh McDaniels

Paying Talib 3 to 4 million is a bargain. My main concern with this guy is he staying healthy for a season.I am sure someone out there would overpay for him.The guy is a legit corner though when healthy.I cant tell Brady to restructure his contract again but it sure would be nice to get the pieces back together.

Instead of giving back money I'd rather him take his parking spot back and make Patriot Place his Palace to get #4 before he walks out the door. Oh well.. I do think he needs to refocus a little though.

Re: Josh McDaniels

They need to sign Talib. I think with a full summer in the Pats off-season training program he'll be in better shape for 2013.

Brady's $22M or whatever ... ye Gods ... given how many games this year where he didn't play at all well (like in the AFCCG), he should be offering to give some back. Hell, if I was Brady and I just soiled the linens like he did, and saw my window of opportunity for another SB closing at warp speed, I'd go on veteran minimum salary and let the team use the rest of get a supporting cast to help finish the damn job.

The Jets are shopping Revis around - would Brady take a cut in pay if it meant getting Revis? Imagine Talib and Revis at DB, with Dennard the nickel-back. Think that might take some pressure off Brady to put up 30 points/game?

There's talk out there about RB Steven Jackson, Ed Reed, and Richard Seymour as possibilities..

BB would have a football priapism if they landed Ed Reed.

Steven Jackson makes no sense - RB is not the problem. How the hell old is Seymour now?

Odds of the Jets letting Revis go to NE are about as likely as the Pats letting Brady go to NY.

Re: Josh McDaniels

What are the chances that once again BB drafts another corner in the first round?I expect them to draft another corner but i hope its not in the first round. If he does draft one,i hope its not a nickel corner. You need to draft corners that can actually play some man coverage. They need pass rushers!

Re: Josh McDaniels

Agreed. If they keep Talib and Dennard stays out of jail I think they're OK at CB. They need a pass rush to take pressure off these guys.

Pick the "least likely" and that's who BB will go after, ...

Re: Josh McDaniels

Back to the McDaniels talk... well after this tongue
Jackson is a back who can catch and get some tough yards (although not as good as he use to) but he can catch. This is not a priority but would be a luxury pick.

Can't see the Seymour thing...

McD still doesn't do a good job at adjusting. He had to know or have a great idea of what the Ravens were going to do. Too many points left on the field in the first half anf although he may not be the complete blame he is part of it.

NO adjustments in the second half. He was owned by Pees. That alone is a damn shame. And he doesn't get better.

Sadly, I think we're stuck with Scooter and Patricia.
