Official game thread: Patriots - Dolphins

This is the official game thread for the last regular season gamne between the Patriots and Dolphins.

Still a lot on the line for the Patriots and the Dolphins would love to finish strong.

Patriots can finish anywhere between the 1-4 seeds in the AFC playoff picture.

Chance favors the Prepared Mind.

The usual roster gymnastics ...

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots signed WR Kamar Aiken, RB James Develinand DB Cyhl Quarles to the practice squad. Aiken and Develin were released from the 53-man roster on Dec. 24. Quarles spent a few weeks on the New England practice squad earlier in the year.

Quarles, 23, was signed by New England to the practice squad on Sept. 12 and released on Sept. 28. He was originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens as a rookie free agent out of Wake Forest on May 11, 2012. The 6-foot-3, 212-pounder was released by Baltimore on Aug. 31, 2012. In 50 career games at Wake Forest, he totaled 239 tackles, two interceptions, six passes defensed, two forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

Develin, 24, joined the New England practice squad on Sept. 1, 2012 and was signed to the 53-man roster on Nov. 28. He played in his first NFL game vs. San Francisco on Dec. 16. The 6-foot-3, 251-pounder, from Brown University, spent most of the 2010 and all of the 2011 season on the Cincinnati practice squad. He originally entered the NFL in 2010 when he was signed to the Cincinnati practice squad on Nov. 30, 2010 after playing for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. Develin played four seasons as a defensive lineman at Brown.

Aiken, 23, was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Dec. 22 and saw action in the win at Jacksonville on Dec. 23. He joined the Patriots practice squad on Nov. 19. Aiken originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Buffalo out of Central Florida in 2011. The 6-foot-2, 213-pounder began his rookie season on the Buffalo practice squad before being signed to the 53-man roster in November. Aiken was released by Buffalo after training camp this past summer and spent time on the practice squads of both Buffalo and Chicago this season.

Re: Official game thread: Patriots - Dolphins

BB doesn't seem to think Gronk is ready to play yet, according to what was said today. On the other hand, Gronk did talk to the media at length for the first time, which usually doesn't happen unless a player is close to ready to play.

The team is winning without Gronk right now and MIA isn't exactly tough to pass on (25th ranked passing D). As much as it'd be nice to have him back, there's no need to rush - and Oh-oh seems to be improving every week, so giving him another game subbing for Gronk isn't a bad idea.

Also Jermaine Cunningham was back at practice after his suspension. They had full attendance for today's walk-through.

FOXBOROUGH -- Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski took questions from a large media contingent after Wednesday's walk-through, the first time he's spoken publicly since breaking his forearm on Nov. 18.

Gronkowski, with a pink scar still visible down his left arm, has been practicing since Dec. 14, but has yet to play in a game since the injury, which happened late in a 59-24 home win over Indianapolis.

And while he said he'd like to be out on the field playing, Gronkowski will be waiting on the medical staff to give him the green light.

"The doctors know what they're talking about. They've had many injuries like this. When they know it's safe and sound and ready to go, that's when it's going to be ready to go," Gronkowski said. "I'm going to trust in them and when they say so. I'm anxious to get out there. Obviously I want to go."

The time has come..... Here's to the 2014 Season.

@MikeReiss: Dolphins officially rule out WR Davone Bess for Sunday's game vs. Patriots; Meanwhile, Patriots list 20 players questionable.

The break occurred on the Patriots’ last extra point during the Colts game. Freak accident.

Snow Ball II.  Even with free substitutions a clear Pats adv.

Nice to see Cunningham back he gives depth the outside line & pass rush.

...It sucks to see Seattle punk Sherman got off because the testing firm F-ed up his test.

Phins fan here. Good luck in the playoffs this year. Looks like you will have the number 2 seed and possibly number one if Denver losses. I don't see this being a close game. I just can't see the Pats playing crappy football for three weeks in a row.

Re: Official game thread: Patriots - Dolphins

I dunno. Ravens are kind of beat up and not exactly impressive on offense of late. Colts are fired up and should take care of 'em. Which I guess means the Pats would get the Texans in two weeks, unless they implode against the Bengals.

I would laugh myself silly if somehow the Colts beat Manning.

All n all a nice day...Pats get a belated XMAS gift with the bye, Cowboys lose, Gronk played some. However, I worry about nink...the way he walked off the field makes me skeptic he will play in 2 weeks and that will hurt
