Thanksgiving night game official thread: Jets vs Patriots

Official Turkey day game thread between the:

new york jets football helmetand new england patriots football helmet

The Jets are on the outside looking in as regards the playoffs. In fact IMO they are done. No playoffs again this year. However they do have an easy schedule the rest of the way and could possibly win out. New England could some what officially end any hope of that by winning on Thanksgiving day.

The Patriots have beaten the Jets 3 straight games.

Chance favors the Prepared Mind.

Re: Thanksgiving night game official thread: Jets vs Patriots

People always talk about Brady vs. the Jets Defense, but 50% of the outcome comes from the Jets O vs. the Pats D.  This is like one half inning of baseball being played by a Cy Young Pitcher vs. the Yankees and the other half being played by clowns.

If Sanchez can throw on us and keep the Jets D rested, we're in trouble.  If our D can do to Sanchez what most teams have been able to do, the Jets D will eventually break.  The advantage that we have is that if we get behind, we still have a chance whereas the Jets will have a lot of trouble if they have to give up a balanced attack.

The way things have gone for the Jets so far, - I'd be surprised if the don't try to establish a run game, - and then try and pick on the Pats secondary for the "real yards" occasionally.

Re: Thanksgiving night game official thread: Jets vs Patriots

I don't have many worries about the O. Vereen and Ridley and Woody have been quiet for a few weeks, they're due for a big day on the ground. The Jets are the 30th ranked rushing D - this would be a fine week to go double-heavy-jumbo on TE's and FB's and just shove the ball down the Jets throats.

I think the biggest thing to come out of the Colts game for the D was the sudden burst of confidence that they can actually play not-crappy. OK, it was against a mistake-prone rookie. But this week they're going up against a mistake-prone veteran. The front-7 are playing great and I think they have a starting secondary which will work with Talib, Dennard, McCourty, and Gregory/Chung.

I have a feeling this game will go kind of like the Colts game. Kind of close at first, and then the Pats will wake up about 20 minutes in and that'll be it.

That wasn't glass rolling up on his leg.  They brought him back to fast and now want him healthy before he goes again.  I bet he plays on TG beacuse he's ready.  Gronk probably comes back when he's healthy, not when he feels he's healthy.

They can live with Shiancoe, Fells, HoHo even Solder as the bigger TE until Gronk is ready.

They also got that LB-turned-FB on the PS who's as big as a TE if it comes down to needing an extra body to block.

I think we'll do well but I am concerned about red zone offense without Gronk.  He's pretty clutch when we need a TD instead of a FG.

Jets fans are very confident it seems.Reading their boards, lol. You just beat the rams.I hope the pats can put them out of their own misery. In terms of still being in the hunt for a bye, this game is big.

Brady made a remark yesterday about hoping everyone was focused and not "off playing video games." The sportswriters all caught it. Brady is in take-no-prisoners mode.

I would like to see BB put Hightower on the outside in Jones's place.Let him rush the passer from the outside.I think he can be an edge rusher.

I'm seeing a big game from the Pats tonight...they have won 18 straight games in the 2nd half of the season, I believe they said they were tied with the 49ers of the early 90's.
The time has come and gone, Here's to the 2014 Season.

Stuff from Twitter ...

#Jets inactives: Greg McElroy, Kahlil Bell, Aaron Berry, Damon Harrison, Hayworth Hicks, Hayden Smith, Caleb Schlauderaff #PatriotsTalk

#Patriots Inactives vs. #Jets: Jones, Mankins, Gronkowski, Cole, Vollmer, Zusevics, Bequette,  #PatriotsTalk

Also: Patriots cut WR Salas, activate OL Zusevics

In warmups, Alfonzo Dennard at RCB over Kyle Arrington with top unit. Devin McCourty at safety alongside Steve Gregory. Will see if it holds

10 minutes to kickoff and still a ton of empty seats...

3TD's in 52 seconds. Holy crap.

OK, now don't let up. Bury them. Give them no hope of a comeback.

Re: Thanksgiving night game official thread: Jets vs Patriots

Yeah. They need at least one more TD lead before the half. Then even if the Jets get a KR TD or turnover, they're still way deep in the hole.

"Forfeit, - if this was little league baseball, the game would be called"
.
From the Jets board, - which is in a complete meltdown mode. They ALL want Rex fired, ... or worse.
