Patriots OL #7

Patriots OL #7

https://www.profootballfocus.c...ine-rankings/2/

I'll admit, I was very concerned going into the season about the OL.  But, just like every other year, they have buckled up and put out a pretty solid performance so far, even with injuries.  Just goes to show what great coaching can do (Scarnecchia).  If only the Patriots could get a guy that brings out the best in the secondary....

7. New England Patriots

PB = 16th, RB = 3rd, PEN = 1st

Even with Logan Mankins at less than 100% the line has still come together to play well, with nobody more so than Sebastian Vollmer. Special credit goes to the run blocking of Ryan Wendell and how Nate Solder has held up at left tackle.

Re: Patriots OL #7

Don't count your chickens just yet .......

Sure The Patriots OL looked good against the 3 - 5 St. Louis Rams, but let's see how well they hold up against a swarming Defensive team like The NY Giants, Chicago, Atlanta, or San Francisco, or even Baltimore.

It has been the inability of the OLine to protect, and also to provide a running game, that has cost The Patriots the last two Super Bowls. In the Post season, neither Scarnecchia nor Belichick has had any answers in the biggest games.

They might be improving as a group, or they might just be an up-and-down unit.   Time will tell.......

Re: Patriots OL #7

This guy rates the OL #1 after dominating what was considered a pretty good, young, and athletic St Louis DL.  His rating is based on yard/carry, 3rd down conversions, and % of dropbacks that result in negative plays.  I'm not sure I agree with his metrics, but hey......can't complain about #1 :)
