Re: Week 7 - Game Balls & Goats ... Pats v Jets, ...

GAME BALLS

1)   The kickers.  Gostkowski with the game tying and game winning field goals.  Mesko with great punts pinning the Jets back all night.

2)   The OL again.  Patriots with another 130 yards rushing and Brady with 1 sack (which was almost another coverage sack).

3)   Mayo/Spikes.  We huge in the middle of the field and really set the tone.  Helped stop the Jets "ground and pound."

HONORABLE MENTIONS:   Passrush when they really needed it - it wasn't there for long periods of time, but 4 sacks, including a safety and a fumble to end the game.  Brady for doing a much better job of throwing the ball away this week.  Ridley/Vereen looked pretty solid.  Gronkowski with 2 TDs.  McCourty's 104 yard TD return.

GOATS

1)   Many posters on this board.  Its beginning to get like it was a few years ago with the board being filled with nothing  but negative crap.  Its ok to have a little bit, but too many posters are 100% negative about everything and have nothing positive to say...ever.  If I wanted to read negative stuff about the Patriots I could go to another team's forum or read the Boston media.  Its sad that the board is littered with so much negative crap by its own posters.  Fortunately there are other sites I can go to with hundreds/thousands of posters that drown out the handful of Debbie Downers.  When foxsports finally kills off scouts, I probably won't stick around.

2)   The drops.  Must have been a half dozen drops by Patriot receivers (Lloyd with several, Hernandez with one or two, Gronkowski with one).  Dropping balls as a professional athlete is unacceptable to me.  You have to pull them in....otherwise you are giving the other team a free play.

3)  Sanchez.  Its amazing just how bad he has become.  He'll hide behind the stats this game and get praised by the NY media that is only looking at numbers.  But anyone who actually watched him sees a QB that struggles to even make an easy pass and makes horribly bad decisions almost the whole game.  I thought he was going to be a good QB.  He is clearly in the bottom 1/3 of NFL starting QBs.

DISHONORABLE MENTIONS:  McCourty's fumble.  Injuries.

Contrary to what the Boston media hacks are saying, I did like what I saw from Dowling and Dennard.  I'd rather see a CB play tight coverage and get a penalty because he is playing a man hard than see a CB let a receiver catch a 50 yard bomb or get called for a huge PI because you aren't watching the ball.  Dowling's and Dennard's play is actually something you can build on.  Arrington, of course, got repeatedly burned again most of the night with soft coverage.  I couldn't figure out if McCourty was getting burned again because it looked like he was moved to safety most of the 2nd half and had a zone responsibility.

I think you have to add The pass rush and Mayo in coverage to the Goats as well. Mayo was terrible in Coverage.

And you have to add the 2 minute drill to the Game balls. For the first time in awhile they did well

I too liked what I say from Dennard. He made some rookie mistakes, but you can see that he has the skills to play man to man.

Balls

1. Special teams.  It was great to see Gost make up for the Arizona miss with not one but two clutch kicks. And Zoltan did a great job punting the ball. And least we forgot the 104 kick off return by McCourty.

2. Brady. He lead them in position to tie and then win the game in OT.

3. Gronk, 2 TD catches including one specular TD catch
3A. Ninko (caused the fumble to win the game) Spikes, Cunningham helped put whatever pressure the Patriots were able to muster at times and Spikes is just a thumper every defense should have

Goats

1. DB's. The worse in the league at giving plays of 20 yards or more. (worse than last year if that was possible) however the real blame IMO goes to
1AAAA. DB Coach Josh Boyer. It's his job to teach and put them in position to win. All of the DB's are getting beaten like a drum. All of them simply cannot be this bad.

2. Another Josh.  This time McDaniels. I'm tired of Josh apologists talking about 2007. What did they do in the playoffs? I don't recall them winning a Super Bowl, and please correct me if this is 2012 and not 2007. NE scored 21 against and injured SD team in the AFC Championship game at home and 14 vs the Giants in the Super Bowl.

3. Belichick for being to stubborn to make a change, Either in coaches, philosophy, something because they can't continue to let bad QB's have career days and/look like pro bowl players against the Patriots and scrubs verses everyone else.

GAME BALLS

1)   Brandon Spikes...This guy is progressing into one of the hardest hitters in the league. Did you see him ring Greens bell!

2)   Gronk! Getting back to stud form

3)   Welker-even when he`s double teamed-he still had some big snags. Nink for once again looking more and more like Vrable and being un-sung!

HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Brady! for sucking it up on those last two drives and seemingly taking matters into his own hands and ran the O like it should`ve been run the whole game-especially going to Gronk twice on that game tying drive

GOATS

1)   The whole coaching staff especially their leader for not having this team prepared for a must win game

2)   Lloyd-I`m still hopeful he can right the ship but those drops were huge. I`m giving him a bit of a pass because of that nice pass he laid out for last week against Seattle-I was sure it resulted into a separated shoulder but he came back.

3)  Chandler Jones-not calling him a bust but he was a non-factor most of that game. It also seemed at times he was getting knocked around to the fact he gave up.

DISHONORABLE MENTIONS  Pass rush-yes even you Vince-you guys took a back seat for most of the game

Re: Week 7 - Game Balls & Goats ... Pats v Jets, ...

One thing I noticed that after watching the game from the comfort of my TV this time I saw Jones get held a few times right in front of the referees face. No call.
