Stupid question, every other team in the league passed on Dalton.  Leading up to the draft, the Panthers were seriously considering drafting Gabbert over Newton. Imagine that.

to quote the panthers GM: "It was a toss-up between Cam and Gabbert on who to draft."
So obviously there's plenty of things Gabbert can do at a better level than Dalton. He just doesn't have a o-line like the bengals and he doesn't have the amount of weapons dalton has. Oh and Dalton is in his second year of his offense, while Gabbert has played 4 games in Mularkeys offense. So it only makes sense dalton is doing better. There's also the amount of snaps dalton got last year before the regular season. He was named the starter before the season even started. Gabbert was getting the 3rd string reps on a horrible coaching staff and he was thrown into the fire in the 3rd week of the season.

There's plenty of reasons why dalton is performing better then Gabbert right now. As simple as that
