Long time no talk

Long time no talk

ATTN: FRAT from a former longtime fan who just said F#$k it.

I hope everything is going well in Jacksonville.  Sorry I abandoned ship after 15+ years of support because I just couldn't take the condescending front office (all the "Gene-ius" draft picks that some never heard of... and never will since he picked them), former idiot announcer Vic Ketchman's idiot analysis and blind support of a failing process since about 2008, some... AND I REPEAT SOME fans hyper-sensitive reactions to my LONG belief and others LONG belief that ol' David Garrard wasn't the answer at QB and I wonder who was right there as well.. The oversensitive racial tension between this fan base which was laughable... Case and point was when I called a certain player "Buckwheat" by the way he looked after he smiled after a interception at the end of the game which blew it for us.  I could go on forever but I will limit my typing for those who don't give a ****... and frankly I don't care.. I just wanted to get this off my chest.

In closing, I want to say I will always have a special place for the Jacksonville Jaguars in my heart and such greats as Tony Brackens, Fred Taylor, Jimmy "Smooth" Smith, Keenan McCardell, Mark Brunell, Tony Boselli and Matt Jones (ok, I was just joking there)... I could list more and more and more... Like Aaron Beasley, Fernando "Toast" Bryant, Jimmy Stewart, Lageman, etc... They all had my support 1000 miles away like no other.  My new team who has my 100% support is the Bengals... Now, they always had a bad rap for front office but I will tell you what since I dropped the Jaguars for the Bengals after I saw the jags moved up to pick that stud of a QB from Missouri Blaine Gabbert.. I knew it was time for a change...  I was fortunate enough that the Bengals (my local team) just drafted a stud WR out of Georgia AJ Green and in the second round they drafted a QB that I really liked in the 1st round in Andy Dalton.  It just seems that the Bengals have their **** together in the FO and as much as they have been put down Nationally for years, I really think they need to be looking elsewhere to see where the FO's really are slacking.. I would suggest Jacksonville...

Anyway, sorry AGAIN for the FRAT, but to my old diehard buddies Charlie, JagHombre22, (the late Dav), BAMAPG (who I actually respected when others didn't)  the list goes ON AND ON... I am sorry but a couple years ago I just couldn't take anymore incompetence... I can say it started with the resigning of David "Mr. Check Down" Garrard and just snowballed since then... 3 years is enough to put yourself through before you wake up and say nite nite.

I want to thank everyone for being a great fan but as John Lennon so passionately said in one of his songs... "I just had to let it go"... I am a man who loves football I am just not so keep in the FO/GM trying to fleece me.

I don't understand either.......how do you "switch" teams?
Will you dump the Bengals when they make a few bad draft picks and don't win the SB in 10 years?
Who's next for you?
I'm pretty sure the Bengals have been a laughingstock for longer than the Jags and haven't been significant since that loser Esiason was their QB.

No respect for anyone who doesn't stand by their team.  You're not a true fan, and can't be trusted as one by the fan base of whatever team you choose to like from here on out

I respect your opinion and as a matter of fact that is how I once thought.  Fortunately, i broke away from this type of logic because it is flawed..   I started rooting for a LOCAL team... which, as most of you Jaguars fans know is much better because of the friends you meet, local television coverage and only 100 mile ride to the stadium, etc. etc. etc.

One other thing sir... In being a fan of a team I can care less if the fan base can "trust" me.  I am here to watch the football games and the kids on the field.  If fans want to "trust" me then I have no idea what kind of sport we are watching as I don't have anything to do with the prosper or hinder of their life decisions.  I just like good and competative football with a local twist.

The Jags will always be in my heart and it was great to see Fred Taylor inducted before the Bengals game.  Fred was, most likely, my favorite Jag ever.  Probably would have been one of the best running backs of all time barring injuries he had.

Ty for reading.

Re: Long time no talk

I will answer those MrPadre19...

You switch teams by doing this... Not following your favorite teams websites much anymore (forums, news wire, etc.).

Will I dump the Bengals when they make a "few" bad draft picks and don't win the SB the next 10 years... Well being it took me about 14-15 years to dump the Jaguars most likely not... This Jaguars dump was a combination of things and not just a "few" bad picks... in which the Jaguars have had more than a "few".  I believe saying a few is quite objective.  I understand how a team can miss on draft night and absolutely no team is infallible.. I just felt Mr. Smith was getting a big head and thinking he could find EVERY gem from a small school that was in the draft... He hits on one and he is a big deal... then we forget about the 10's-100's he thought were big hits that weren't.  That is how the average fan is.

Who is next for me?  Well, I don't think about what ifs like this.  I am a Bengal Fan.  I will support the Bengals from that point forward (since the final straw went down and the Jaguars traded up to draft an overrated Missouri QB by the name of Blaine Gabbert at 10).  At that point I looked at myself and said is this really what I want to be supporting?  A guy who says that amassing picks was the best way to run a front office to someone who moved up to pick a pretty obvious bust in the 10th position of the draft.  Nope.

Whether or not the Bengals are a "laughingstock" doesn't concern me much.  I am an independent thinker and really don't just buy into stuff because the masses do.   I like what I like and if I don't like a product (aka Team) I say bye bye.  As a person who dealt with death everyday for 10+ years I really see how fragile life is and don't want to live mine by supporting something I don't believe in.

That is the first time I have heard Esiason was a loser!  That made me chuckle!

Thank you for posing your questions and I still hope the Jaguars win.. Just not vs. THE BENGALS.

Wow.. that was a very articulate
and sensible response. Good luck
with your new team but waiting a
long time for your team to win is
like waiting to have sex with your
girlfriend. The longer it takes, the
sweeter and more appreciated it is.
When the jags make it to the big
show, we will have people blowing
up this forum but we will know who
the true fans are.

P.S. First off, you love the team, not the GM. Secondly, you have too much time on your hands.

Re: Long time no talk

^Right on!  The bad times make the good times that much sweeter.  And you are "a fan of the team, not the GM."  Couldn't have said it better myself.

It's hard to be a fan of a losing team, you gotta be able to take some ass whoopings, but that takes true strength as a fan.  I just can't see how if the jags, or any team for that matter, struggle a little, you can just flip teams on a dime.  When you have put so much into rooting for your team and caring for your team and invested so much time and emotion, you stand by them regardless and just hope for better days while continuing to root your ass off b/c you truly love your team

You gonna go Carson Palmer on the bengals as soon as they have a few losing seasons, or their GM falls out of favor with you?
