Is the AFC North the worst division for Travel?

Is the AFC North the worst division for Travel?

Think about it. Cincikentucky. I mean what's good about Cincinnati. Cleveland? The mistake on the Lake. Another city dying a slow death. And finally Pittsburgh. The city is so bad, the whole population has relocated to western Md. We would be better off in the AFC East. Let us take Buffalo's spot. Then we would have nice places to goto like NY, Boston, and Miami. One day, this may happen, and hopefully soon.

Yeah, no one gives a crap about going to Ohio.

We should make this thread into: Where you going to watch the Ravens this year in a stadium not named M&T.  Chicago! & perhaps Miami for me!

I officially and indefinitely boycott Heinz products as they sponsor evil.

Wish they would have sent the Ravens to the south and put Indy in the North.

Depends on who we replace though. That's assuming that we replace the Patriots.  If you're not specific with the genie, we might replace a team like the Bills, and that crap just got real.  I'd rather play the Steelers annually than the Patriots.

Who do the Orioles play? Boston, New York and Tampa.

It was a bad decision to keep us in the AFC North. We should switch with Buffalo.

Absolutely the worst.  Three rust belt opponents.banghead  I've been to each town many times and honestly can't think of many positives for any.  AFC East or South would be much nicer for road trips.

Modell really screwed us when the NFL realigned. He wanted to retain his old rivalry with the Rooney Steelers.  That was his rivalry, not ours.  As fans, we were more into continuing the rivalries with Jax and Nashville, which, btw, are much better places for long weekends than the Ohios or Pitt.  Beaches or the honky-tonks on Broadway and the Grand Ol' Opry -- there's nothing like them in the AFC North opponent cities.

RE: Is the AFC North the worst division for Travel?

is it really much different than going to baltimore? Im sure any teams fans would rather go to Miami or Jacksonville or numerous other places than Baltimore/Pitts/Cincy/Cleveland. I for one dont enjoy Baltimore or any of the others in the AFCN. Pitts is ok I mean I did live there most my life. (military) not leaving for work because I couldnt find any. At the time I was dumb and didnt want to go to college. Now that I been away and in the south for awhile I dont see moving back (only cause I loved SC) but talkin bout the other 3 like baltimore has so much more to offer is a little funny.

And yes been to Baltimore quite a bit. I work in DC now (last 2 years). Ill prob head up the game this year in Baltimore as well. I know people always shun away form rival games, but im respectable and try to avoid the trouble (if possible) been there for 2 other games over the years and been pretty decent time. City was ok, nothing to write home about but like I said been there for other things than just football games. a few of us went up there a few months ago for a weekend trip to get away from DC-Northern Va

i have no issues with Pitt. I left when iw as 18 because I chose military over college. Had nothin to do with city. My whole family, inlaws still live there. go back prob 6 times a year. Again though what exactly makes baltimore a great city for opposing fans to come to?

here is some info on the views of baltimore:

per review in 2012

Baltimore ranked 8 as most dangerous city to live in
Baltimore ranked 2nd for worst economic pay scale growth
Baltimore ranked 5th in most toxic air pollution city to live in (power plants cause)
Baltimore named 9th rudest city to visit (not that this matters lol)
crime per population- Baltimore ranks 6th out of 465 cities for worst crime.

Actually, T, IIRC, it was Cleveland, not Modell, who wanted to be in the same division as the current AFCN, even specifying it in the agreement they made with the league (TN and JAX were also in the then-AFCC, but had no part in the arrangement).

Given that the AFCN has now won more Lombardis than any other division in the league since the Browns rejoined the league (4), there seems to be only one person qualified to evaluate the Cleveland decision-making process:

As far as traveling goes, a lot depends on how you weight the scores.  Thus, while the AFCN, top to bottom, has its problems, anyone who advocates that position can be easily fought to a draw, at worst, simply by repeating the following phrase in response to any point offered: "I concede your point, but the NFCN has Detroit."

BS

and I dont live in baltimore. wouldnt live in baltimore. Hard to want to live anywhere north once you experience the low crime, hospitality and warm weather of a southern city.

Pittsburgh is fine, nothing to brag about but for all the talk of people losing jobs etc etc I havent witnessed it. maybe my large family is the lucky ones. every member of my family still have their original jobs. most are pretty well off (not rich) but definitely have good lives. In-laws had a successfull business for 20 years before selling it and were able to retire when they were 45. Still father in-law works even though he doesnt have to because he is bored. All my close friends have jobs but they did get college degrees and were safe (most teachers). So I dont know, I dont see the drowning city that people on here portray.

Forbes continues to list it as a top city but I guess since people in Baltimore say its a **** hole then that trumps it

Baltimore is a shithole....Nothing there.Nothing there but immigrants tryingto get off of boats.Doesn't even have a pro basketball team....Really nothing there.Clevleand has the rock n rollhallff of fame, pro football hall a fame only half hour away....great lakes science center, a major theatrical section of town...all kinds of stuff to do in Cleveland....multiple malls....shopping, a major amusement park in cedar point an hr away...three major sports teams in the Indians, cavs, and browns.....Baltimore doesn't hold a candle to Cleveland and never will.

Once again though you got no facts to back up your shithole city or facts about Pittsburgh. dispute the high crime, drugs and growth in work force. wait you cant? what a shocker.

You got one thing right.  You've been here.

What discussion are you trying to have exactly?  I've been to Pittsburgh.  It's garbage.  I also witness Pennsylvania traffic flee the state every rush hour to their jobs every morning into Maryland.  You don't see traffic going the other direction to work do you?

The facts are that people in Pittsburgh left the state to find a better life and better jobs which includes the areas in and around Baltimore.  You aren't disputing that.  You're just calling names and showing the same thing I expect from the trash of the city you left.

Re: Is the AFC North the worst division for Travel?

This conversation is a lot about nothing... Most northern cities are not exactly known for their beauty and hospitality... I have spent time in all but cincitucky... brother lives in pittsburgh.. the advantage pittsburgh has over baltimore is that it isn't on the 95 corridor between dc and nyc... the 2 cities are actually remarkably similar.. maybe that is why there is so much animosity. pnc park is absolutly gorgious... only one of the newer stadiums that I have visited that rivals camden yards

cleveland on the other hand is a totally different story... truly an armpit... sweaty balls smell better...lake erie should just swallow the city and put it out of its misery

The Rooneys lobbied to keep Baltimore in the AFCN even though the main rivals at the time were the titans and jags
