Haven't looked at them yet, but yes, I got mine too. I think the Ravens are a little too liberal with who they put in the ring of honor. They may have to lease space in OPACY if this keeps up.

I would say that the only person who does not belong there is Byner.
Heap certainly is worthy of the honor. The next 2 should be Reed and Billick IMO!

They're probably being a little generous because the team is so new, and many of these guys are considered guys who "built the franchise."  I guess that they also figured that they didn't want it to be mostly empty. I'd imagine that from now on, we'll get a bit more tight.

Agreed.  Every time I see Earnest Byner up there I just shudder.  I know it was a Modell pick and Biscuit is probably too classy to drop him now (which would also set a tricky precedent), but I would be OK if he was unceremoniously removed in the off-season.

As for the other members up there, I can't really think of anyone who got in who shouldn't have:

8 Baltimore Colts
Modell
McCrary
Boulware
Ogden
Stover
Jamal
Ray Ray
and now Heap

Of those, I'd say McCrary is the "weakest" of the bunch but still very much deserves to be included.

And I agree, after Heap, they need to put in Reed and Billick.  After those two, Suggs and Ngata should garner consideration.

They should have just put the old colts in first

Byner was pretty terrible choice - hell I'd rather see Vinny in there than Byner

Re: The new season is almost here

I think the problem is that putting Byner in first set such a low bar.  McCrary, Heap, and maybe even Boulware are not worthy of ring of honor to me.  The problem is, they all deserve it more than Byner.  I don't mean to belittle any of those guys because I enjoyed watching all of them.

But we're talking about 11 members in the ROH in the first 20 years of the franchise.  That pace really isn't sustainable, but we keep holding onto this low bar.  What will eventually happen is a player will blow away Heap's 467 receptions or McCrary's 50 career sacks as a Raven and we'll have to keep them out.
