Rolando McClain unretires, traded to dallas

@AdamSchefter: Baltimore traded LB Rolando McClain to the Dallas Cowboys, per source. So McClain's retirement might be over.

Looks like we won't be getting anything in return since it's pretty much trading the rights to Dallas.

Ahh didn't see that.

Wonder what happens if he decides to retire again. Will we have to give them back the 6th round?

No, Cowboys are desperate at LB so they are taking that risk

ozzie trades a seventh and a guy who doesn't play football for a sixth... this might be his biggest coup yet

Newsome would have made a great used car salesman if he wasn't a GM. He sold Jerry Jones a Lemon for a sixth round pick.

Lets not forget the cowgirls were 8-8 last year and are much worse roster wise this year. That 6th round pick may end up being equivalent to a late 5th when all said and done.

I'll be surprise if the pick is worth any more than an early sixth.

Ozzie Newsome "coin flip" revenge.

I wonder what the safe bet would be.

A-Rolando getting locked up again.
B-Rolando playing 40% of the snaps in Dallas
C-Rolando getting cut in late August.

Yeah go ahead, beat us in a coin flip..

Wow! Sixth round pick for a headcase. Bet he doesn't make it through training camp.

Once he actually has to break a sweat again he'll want to retire.

He is a sack master all right. Posturepedic is calling.
Whats the Vegas line on if he makes it to the gate on time for the flight to Dallas?

Cowboys conditioning tests must be a little more easy going.

Glad to be moved on from this quitter.

I've read a bit about him and I admire him for not taking the money and running - which he could have. Leaving several hundred thousand dollars on the table - as he did with the Ravens - to try and get his mind right is something a lot of young guys wouldn't do. Not that that was necessarily the right decision but the guy is tormented. Good luck to him wherever life leads him.

Taking the money and running? He was a bonus baby under the old NFL draft system. 750K is chump change to him.

I admire nothing about him or Jamarcus Russell. They saw a payday, took it, and then decided they didn`t like football when it became too hard for them. Whats really sad is that all the post baby bonus rookies like Sheldon Richardson, Kyle Long, etc have to work for a pittance because bums like McClain ruined the system and forced owners to change it.

Re: Rolando McClain unretires, traded to dallas

So to get the timeline right:

Ozzie signs Rolando McClain to a veteran minimum non-guaranteed contract. McClain retires.  Ozzie pays nothing. McClain un-retires, tries out, fails his conditioning test.  Retires again.  Ozzie pays nothing. Cowboys become desperate for a linebacker.  McClain unretires, Ozzie trades him and a 7th for a 6th.  Ozzie still paid nothing.

Effectively, Ozzie turned a 7th round pick into a 6th round pick for doing nothing.

Hey Purplebirds, why should Ozzie spend money if he can better his draft position by sitting on his hands?  devil

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!!
