I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
Well after less than 5 minutes of me posting on the Steelers board (HUGE mistake) about whether they respect the Ravens, the were already complaining that a SECOND (yes 2!) Ravens fans had posted on there board in the past few days.
I thought I made (biased probably) a good argument about how I didn't like the Steelers but I could at least respect them. THEY APPARENTLY CAN'T DO THE SAME. I said how I think Tomlin is a great coach, Ben is a great QB (when healthy), and I believe they run there organization the "right way" (Drafting, signing their own, etc.)
They are complaining about a second post by a Ravens fan on there board & saying because of it that we (fans) are "needy". WOW how self involved are they as fans. They need to take off the Black and Piss colored glasses and realize that the 2 people that posted on there board were there making observations/bring up facts and were asking for there thoughts, not bringing up stupid facts or bashing them (I'm doing that here).
P.S.
Ratbirds has to be the worst dig for an opposing teams name, it's not clever at all.
The rest of you can now VENT as I just did.

Why bother ? Unless they are #1 they don't deal well. There are several decent posters but its not worth the hassle.

Don't worry, they'll probably ban you soon. That is the most thin skinned board ever...or perhaps the Dolts.

RE: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT there fans
Their organization is not as good as it used to be in my opinion. Whether it's their drafts, the character of some of their more recent/current players (Roethlisberger, Mendenhall, Harrison, Santonio, Plexiglass) and the gradual decline of their coaching staff I don't think their organization is as good.
With fans, they're understandably jumpy at the moment, I don't know that you can generalize too much about them.
There are people who have the guts to come here and be respectful even if we disagree and even if they're being homers. I think that's cool. Other fans like IanWhetstone just miraculously appear when the Ravens offseason is over making some irrelevant comment trying to inject hate. That's why he hasn't been here since. Not all their fans are like him.
I go to the Steelers' board whether they go to the offseason or not.

I go to the Steelers' board whether they go to the offseason or not. Well I will agree that I'm generalizing. I rarely go on their board and just the posts I read from the 5 year comparison and my post, so far no one with a respectable opinion.

I go to the Steelers' board whether they go to the offseason or not. Agreed. Most of their fans couldn't name a player from the 70's teams..

Re: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
Chill out. All Steelers fans aren't like that. There are ridiculous, cool-aid drinking die-hards in every fan base.
The "respect" thread over there has actually had some good responses and the Ben/Joe thread has revealed at least one poster that called Ian on some crap. He made a point to note that Ian used to come over here and post a lot, yet uses name calling in every post over there right now. Dude is in a total meltdown and its a shame.

As for Ian, wasn't he, like, not a total douche once upon a time? What happened? The Steelers started losing. He thought he was the smartest guy in the room but is a huge homer. Now that being a homer makes him look stupid he is a huge douche. He was never really all that bright.

RE: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
I know I'm going to get laughed at for using an old Dan Quayle quote, but here it goes: "I wear their scorn like a badge of honor" and that includes Steeler fans.

Re: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
Okay so after checking my thread out again. There were a few people we gave me real responses. One was quiet honest although I didn't agree with everything he said, but could see why he said it from there point of view. I did generalize earlier but I was just confused by how the first people who responded to my thread on their forum were treating someone just because they aren't a Steelers fan/I'm a Ravens fan idk how they treat fans we aren't Ravens fans.

As for Ian, wasn't he, like, not a total douche once upon a time? What happened? He was incredibly passive aggressive, once the Steelers started losing he couldn't make all of those subtle jabs that he had always gotten away with.

RE: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
I have no respect for James Harrison, Ben Roethlisbeger, and about 90% of their fans. The rest of the organization is a class act with some good history to go with them.

RE: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
you have to understand that every day we have posters (Hunky/Dreski) who fish alot for arguments. Its not always bad from them, but there are a constant 5 people who post stuff just for a reaction. Dreski doesnt bother me too bad, as half his posts are decent. Hunky you prob a decent dude, but to me u just fish for arguments. You post stuff that appeals to your point and leave out stuff that doesnt.
You also can not admit anything that doesnt favor the purple. Thats fine it doesnt bother me, just makes it hard to want to post here. There are plenty of decent fans from here that posts on our board. Dmason and GT are 2 that I can think of off the top of my head and magnified so far hasnt seemed to bad.
As far as Ian, Im not defending him, but the 2 biggest steeler trolls we have, have constantly battered him daily for about last 2 years and I think he just about had enough.
There are usually 2 sides, one is a homer and the other is one who cant ever say anything good about their team. Ian was in the middle for awhile and trying to fight off the blowtards who are on the opposite side, he made some out there comments defending players and some have backfired. Fast forward 3-4 years later and those idiots wont let it go.
In his defense, I agree with some of him comments. I do believe Starks is a fine LT, I do believe that Colon was a good guard this year (argument is his salary and his play at tackle) and it goes onto another 2 OL players that dont play anymore.
I can see those other 2 players werent great, but they had good games and helped the team win the superbowl (or didnt hurt it I suppose) but Ian defended them and it backfired.
I dont care what anyone says, he is smart and does know a ton about the Cap. Thats not because he is a steeler fan and I will defend him. You can argue here all day long, but he really does know his cap info. He is right a ton more than he is wrong. Even when he is wrong about numbers it isnt by much.

I think most will acknowledge that he knows his stuff with regards to the cap, but that is about it. His football knowledge is either very weak or very biased, keeping him from seeing the truth. He comes across as very arrogant like he thinks he is so much smarter than any Raven fan could possibly be, yet he says a lot of idiotic things. I really think his arrogance shows his insecurity about how smart he really is. He's made some outlandish remarks in the past (Farrior/Flacco just to name a few) and now they have come back to haunt him and he can't handle it. So, now he is over there throwing what amounts to a huge childish temper tantrum.

RE: I can respect the Steelers Organization but NOT their fans
again not to defend him but at the time he made that comment, Joe looked very mediocre. It was a wide open comment though that could easily (and did) backfire.
I dont remember the farrior one butas a steeler fan What he did to and for the steelers was amazing. I dont think he is one of the best to ever play the game, but I think he had seasons where he was top few in the league. Again I dont know the comment he made so I cant argue/justify.
Thing is, he wasnt always like that. He did take some risks with comments, but honestly it is very hard to even discuss over there when u are dealing with Matt and others who follow matt. Once he doesnt agree with u he stalks non stop. Ian let him get to him to much and just about broke 2 years ago.
I agree he is arrogant alot and its starting to get rude at some point, but it wasnt always like that. I dont mind because alot of his stuff I trully like reading.
