Tell the truth, when did you know Ray was done?
Ray literally played on fumes this year, I think he played on guts and wiles the whole season. He was always in the right place, but he lost like three steps. This year sort of reminded me of 2005 when he got hurt because the line was too small and he got killed like in that KC game. I think the Dallas game showed the wear and tear had finally gotten to him.

Two minutes after Ray hoisted the Lombardi Trophy for Super Bowl XLVII.

You could tell more this season that the old axiom of the legs going first was all too true. If Ray couldn't play at a level he deemed worthy to the team he knew it was time but his empty locker sure looks strange. I hope he enjoys time with his family.

What difference does it make? You should be reflecting on his contributions, not his shortcomings.
Cool Story Bro. You should tell it at practice.

RE: Tell the truth, when did you know Ray was done?
I think Ray fell of the cliff this season - he was just getting owned bad all year long
but I respect him for not becoming a 2 down part time player
...and don't call me Shirley

machone, Love the Mike Curtis pic. Another Balt beast.
Our entire D missed more tackles then I have ever seen. It didn't help the DL wasn't very good and guys were getting on the LB's. But it matters not now does it?

Blackraven, ain't you the cat that said Tyrod was better than Joe, or better yet Alex Smith and two numbers one is better than Flacco! As for being a Ray hater, I just noticed how bad he was this year, and that proves his greatness to a degree. Ray was a liability, but fought through it to make a contribution. Also just because I believe blackraven that Ed Reed has been a more integral part of the defense during his concurrent time on the team with Ray should not get your hanes in a bunch!

If that is true, your "question" is poorly posed.

I wouldn't jump the gun too much, he hasn't officially turned in his paperwork yet.

RE: Tell the truth, when did you know Ray was done?
I don't think Ray is done. There is a certain discrimination here that says Ray can't play because of his age and his declined speed. It doesn't mean he can't get the job done. I was at the Super Bowl, I saw San Francisco get some plays on Ray. But I also saw the goal line stand which was a hell of a way for Ray to go out. Ray is still pretty good at stuffing the run. We all know there is a time for everyone to go out and I think its Ray's time, but I don't think he's done, he could've come back.

Re: Tell the truth, when did you know Ray was done?
Goal line stand? See that's the problem with Ray myths. He had as much to do with that stand as Bernard Pollard or Cary Williams. I saw a lot of Ellerbee and alot of Jimmy Smith. Ray's play fell off a lot from even last year. Again, that shows how good he was that he was allowed to hang on like he did.

Re: Tell the truth, when did you know Ray was done?
he started to fall off during 2010, got worse and worse. i think the injury last year towards end of season was the end...he felt we could make another run thats why he came back.

Re: Tell the truth, when did you know Ray was done?
This thread is dumb. He had an amazing history with the team that started back in 1996. The team won with him and the record speaks for that. I think they won almost every game he played this year and without him they were a .500 team. Of course that's oversimplifying it but he deserves some credit. He is the best defensive leader the NFL has probably ever seen and he got the team playing for one purpose. To win the Lombardi.
