Browns going to make Hard Push for Flacco

Browns going to make Hard Push for Flacco

This IMO is the worst situation for Baltimore is if one of the teams with alot of cap space go after Flacco and the rumor is the Browns are going to put basically a poison pill contract on the table, something Baltimore cant match without being forced to let go of some better players to bring flacco in, or force baltimore to use the exclusive franchise tag that wont allow teams to talk to flacco but i believe theres a 4 Mil bump up from the regular franchise tag, so it could come down to the Ravens wanting to pay flacco at least 17-18 Mil from the exclusive franchise tag or a team like the Browns or even Cincy offering 17-18+

being reported by CBS, PFT, a few browns reporters as well

So you're willing to let Suggs, Ngata, Boldin and Rice go to keep Flacco? Cant afford to keep them all if Flacco gets the huge deal

This is dumb. He will recieve the exclusive franchise tag if he doesen't sign. His agent probably  started the rumor.

Exclusive Franchise Tag is something like 18-19 Mil for Flacco, why not just pay him the 20 Mil he's asking for at that point?

We don't have to cut any of those guys to keep Flacco. Boldin would go, but thats it.

I'm sure Arena league teams want Flacco too and honestly they have a better shot of signing him than the Clowns.

If Linta and the Browns want to play this game, then I say let them. There is no way in hell Joe sings to play behind that patchwork O-line with wideouts so bad they couldn't make most college teams.

Being cut has nothing to do with it, they are FAs in the comming years, cant afford to keep them all and you think im the one dreaming LOL as of January 14th you will only have 15.1 and thats AFTER taking account of Lewis retiring, Flaccos getting at least 14.8 Mil from just the franchise tag

Patchwork OL? Baltimores OL is worse then Cleveland and the passing efficency numbers prove it (10th vs 17th)

RE: Browns going to make Hard Push for Flacco

IMO, the exclusive tag is out of the question. I've heard that's going to be about $20 million. With 20% increases, that puts future ones at $24 million, $28 million, $33 million, etc.  That would take away all of our leverage. We need to push hard to get it done before the time comes to tag him, or use the restricted one.

Here's the way I see it. We'll pay $20 million a year, no problem.  For any other team to sign him, that would probably mean about $23 million a year. On top of that, the Browns have the #4 overall pick.  If they're willing to let a Super Bowl team have 4 first round picks in the next two years, and pay him well more than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, be my guest. Flacco is incredible and awesome, but I have confidence that Ozzie could make a contender in that scenario.

Yeah this guy is a moron.

Sure we may not be able to extend Sizzle, Rice, and Ngata if Joe gets a big deal. But thats years from now and these guys will be in the twilight of their careers.

Dude you have one player on that pathetic staph infected line. Baltimore, however, had our best player on the bench the entire season.

That said we ran the ball better than you and passed the ball much better than you. To say you're line is even on par with ours speaks volumes about Ohio's public education system, or lack thereof.

The fact that Ozzie Newsome said Joe will be the QB for as long as he's GM. So you guys somehow hiring Ozzie as a GM?

Swisher is just jealous that Baltimore is a real city with a real pro football team with talent at every skill position. He needs to go back to OBR. Cleveland can have a real team when Toni Grossi stops his campaign to keep Art out of his rightful place in the Hall of Fame.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!!

Cleveland doesn't realize that we can sign Joe to the exclusive tag, then sign a long term deal. It happened with Drew Brees.

Remember the dark years when we would dream about this type of thing? Sorry Cleveland, Joe is ours forever.

RE: Browns going to make Hard Push for Flacco

The problem with clowns fans is they think because we both play in the same division there is a rivalry or at the very least a level playing field.

There is no rivalry. I'm not even convinced we're playing the same sport as the clowns. The truth is that the clowns are a division doormat is a revolving door for coaches and wasted draft picks.

The Ravens have been in the league since 1996 and have two Lombardi's and a player in Canton. The clowns have been in the league since 1999 and aren't much better than their first year as an expansion team. The fact that they're even allowed to take the same field as the Ravens is an insult to football.

Moving forward they should just put a community college next to the factory of sadness and staph infections and apply for membership to a NCAA Division-II conference. If they'll have you.

Re: Browns going to make Hard Push for Flacco

They also fail to realize that after this coming year the cap numbers will increase more.  As long as we can fit everyone we want under the cap this year, we should be in pretty good shape going forward.  Suggs has around 3 more good years left.  Same with Gnata.  After that, we will need to replace them anyway.  We will likely restructure their contracts to free up room this year and this will be their last big payday from us.  Bolden has just one or two good years left as well.

I really believe the only player of consequence that we will lose this year is Kruger.  But, you can never keep them all.  Reed may go, but something tells me he will do what is necessary to stay here and retire a Raven.  He understands the money situation and he understands his age.

To go to Cleveland are you frickin serious. Your own fan base has left  by the thousands. NO one wants to live there and play for one of the worst teams of the past decade.

I assume you are a Browns fan. Here is the difference Princess. Joe Flacco plays for a WINNER and one of the best organizations in the NFL! Something as a Clowns fan you have no idea or clue about. The Ravens are in the post-season EVERY YEAR since he came to Baltimore. Cleveland? Could not become an 8-8 team if that organization's collective lives depended on it. Joe would NEVER go to Cleveland. Thanks for the comedy though. We all needed a good laugh.

If Joe had a big ego, he might dream, Wow, the Ultimate challenge, to get to the Playoffs for the  sixth years in a row with the Browns and win the Superbowl.

Than, as he woke up, he turned to his wife and said " Honey, I had the craziest nightmare, I dreamt I went to Hell and they made us wear these ugly ass uniforms"

This isn't even a real story. The only thing I saw on PFT was that they'd "expect" Cleveland to throw 2 first rounders for Flacco if the Ravens don't use the exclusive tag. Which even if the Ravens used the regular tag, they have a chance to match any offer from another team. The exclusive tag means another team can't even try to sign him.

Joe isn't going anywhere....especially to Cleveland. This is a non-story

The funniest part of this thread is that if Baltimore made no attempt whatsoever to retain Flacco, and he was free to take all the visits he'd like, and sign anywhere he wants, he STILL wouldn't sign with Cleveland.

To the clueless Clevelander

I have 5 friends from Cleveland....they all live in Florida now.   Just saying.  I've been there once, you have the rock and roll hall of fame. neato.  Everything else blows.  Leaveland has nothing on Baltimore in the way of culture, diversity and recreation, it's not even remotely close.

I can't believe a Clevelander would talk city smack, wow.

Flacco would coach the blue hens before he plays for the browns.
