Wines Hard upset that he didn't have Lewis type sendoff

Hey Wines, you aint no Ray Lewis.  You were a decent wide receiver.  Nothing more, nothing less.  You will never see the hall of fame, let alone be the best ever at your position.

Upon hearing that Hines was upset....Ray started tearing up and said "That was soooo beautiful man..."  Just like in the SNL skit. LOL

To diminish what Ward means to Pittsburgh is selling him short.

In today's game a player spending their entire career in one city is all but unheard of. Not only did Ward do that, but when faced with the team not wanting his salary on their books any longer, Ward (while still feeling he could play the game) retired in lieu of putting on another team's colors.

Say what you like...but from me? Much respect.

It's  Ward's own fault

the writing was on the wall for 2 seasons that his career was over,

he wasn't even starting any more at the end - he didn't get the big send off from Pitt because he couldn't admit/accept his career was over.
...and don't call me Shirley

He just wanted to get his 1000 catches. He did get it....barely.....on a contrived passing play for no yardage.

Can't respect a guy who went out of his way to take cheap blind side shots on players for the purpose of, not helping the play work, but just to do his cheesy little grin like a school kid who got away with something.  Show me hits where he went toe to toe with a defender who was looking at him and I'll give him a little bit of respect.  I doubt you will find many.

Ask Ed Reed about the knock-out he took from Hines...HEAD ON.  Nighty night.  HOF for sure.

Toughest pound for pound player in History of the NFL.  Best blocking WR EVER.

Hines Ward's legacy in the NFL will be the illegal crack-back block.  Congratulations.

And now you just sound petty.  Good for you.  Ward was NEVER the same kind of player as Ray.  And he's proving it himself by even saying anything like "I wanted that send off for myself."  There are only a handful of guys in all of sports around the world that get that kind of sendoff.  Ward wasn't one of them.  Get over it.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!!

lol Ward in the HoF?  What are these fools smoking?

There are 4 guys with way better numbers that are not even in at the WR position...Reed, Carter, Brown and Ellard.

Hines Ward's career stats mirrors Derrick Mason.  No knock on Mason but he isn't a Hall of Famer...and neither is Ward

Hines Ward REDEFINED the WR position.  Probably the best special teams player in Steelers history as well. Boldin's good.  Not as good as Ward.  Ward is a sure fire HOF.  Over the years the NFL has had to legislate new rules because Steeler players have been to TOUGH.

Mel Blount- no receiver could get off the line.  None..they instituted the 5 yard bump then.  He just overpowered people.

Hines- None of his hits were illegal.  He just leveled guys.  Crushed them.  The big bad Bart Fags and Rivers...LB's who outweighed him by 50 lbs...Adolph Gotoohell had to put a stop to the destruction.  Hence, the Hines Ward Rule.

Win a SB Boldin, let alone 2 before you want to be in Hines shadow.

It would be great if the NFL would legislate against the reprehensible cut blocking your O line does.  Now that is CHEAP.

Ha ha, you do give us some comedic relief anyway.  So tell us, if he was one of the all-time greats, then why did all of Pissburgh treat him like yesterday's garbage when he it was time to put him out to pasture?  I mean, did anyone even realize he was gone?

Hines ward was a cheap shot artist called on the carpet for being an Ahole, and left the game after a clean shot decleated him in Baltimore..

The guy didn't have the guts to hit anybody face to face

GUTLESS

Never hit anyone face to face?  Go to youtube  and check the nighty night hit on Ed Reed.  Obviously your not a golfer.  Ray ray was fined 25k for the hit on Hines.

Best blocking WR ever?  Who cares?  He's a Wide Receiver, not a fullback or offensive lineman.  That's like bragging about your mediocre punter being the best tackling punter ever.

You claimed Ward redefined the WR position because the league made his hits illegal.  They didn't make hard hits illegal, they made blindside hits illegal.  You proved our point for us.

Coming from the fanbase of the team that built a legacy off of steroid use.  Nice.  Oh, and I'm sure Harrison never uses steroids.  I mean, look at his physique and roid rage.  Nah, never happened.

Do you understand basic grammar?

Running QBs only succeed in the NFL when they're also great passers.  Tim Tebow for example, is a great running QB but a terrible passer.  You remember Tebow don't you?

Tebow. Nice.   The point the other idiot was making was that WR blocking has nothing to do with the wr position.  That's idiotic.  Hines went 88 grabs-1178 yrds, 16 games, 10 TYd, in Playoffs.  Uh....he did more than block.  SB MVP as well.

You never answered the question.  If he was so great, why was he pushed aside like yesterday's garbage by all of Pissburgh?  I'd call him a pretty good possession receiver.  That's about it.  Maybe like a Meshawn Johnson category.

Of course blocking is related to the WR position, but being "zomg the best blocking wide receiver evar!!" won't get you into the hall of fame, and certainly hasn't redefined the WR position.

Tony Gonzalez redefined the TE position, the prototypical NFL tight end models Tony Gonzalez.  Do NFL GMs sit down at draft day looking for the next Hines Ward at the top of round 1?  Of course not, that's ridiculous.  Did Atlanta trade half of their draft to move up for Julio Jones because he's just an awesome blocker?  No.  Are Calvin Johnson and Andre Johnson considered two of the best WRs in the game because of their amazing blocking skills?  I don't think so Tim.
