Question 6 is at it Again!
I mean really Question 6? Why can't you just focus on making special teams tackles. I don't see Matt Birk unfocused. Can we please win the Super Bowl and jettison this cat from the team. He is more interested in being a rabble rouser and an agitator. Just concentrate on doing your job so that you don't miss two tackles that costs the team 14 points!

I'm tired of his antics too. How about focusing on the game?

RE: Question 6 is at it Again!
I dont see the problem with it. Athletes and celebreties use their positions to advance their agendas at points. Whether its charities, causes, or politics. The timing may be semi-inopportune, but I think overfocusing on that on the part of fans likely has more to do with your disagreement with his position on the issue. Last week, it was him calling the Patriots soft (which they ARE), and people were butt-hurt over that. Its soon going to be media week. People are going to talk. Whether its x's o's, human, interest, politics, trash talk, contracts, or just plain silliness, talk will happen. Don't know what the issue is here.

RE: Question 6 is at it Again!
And who makes a career as a special teams player? That's supposed to be a position that you put rookies to prove themselves before they start playing real positions. I don't see the point of paying veteran money and wasting a roster spot on somebody who's not expected to play on defense or offense (except a kicker or punter or returner of coarse).

Look, it's bad enough Ray Lewis is going to get dragged through the mud next week, and now we got to worry about a fringe special teamer not being focused on making special team tackles. You would not be so forgiving or understanding had we lost in Denver because of his lack of focus. He's lucky Flacco saved him!!!!!

I wish all athletes would keep their political and religious views to themselves personally

Cool Story Bro. You should tell it at practice.

RE: Question 6 is at it Again!
He has a right to his opinion and they will ask him questions because of the venue. How is there a problem?
It seems like you have an ax to grind on the issue and not on his game play. Just saying...

RE: Question 6 is at it Again!
How isn't he focused? Every player does media time before the game? He's bringing an issue with him.
Again, it seems like you have an ax to grind. Otherwise you would have used his name instead of the law he advocated for.

A conservative Catholic like Harbaugh will have no patience for this kind of thing. I expect this to die down quick.

Trackmaster wrote: And who makes a career as a special teams player? Someone who obviously has a ton of talent. This reminds me of an article I just read about a former NBA player Brian Scalabrine. People wanted to rag on him thinking he wasn't good so after he retired he decided to challenge anyone in the area who thought they could beat him. Everyone sent in tapes of their abilities and trash talking how they were going to beat him because he's a token player who wasn't any good. Turns out he destroyed everyone and it wasn't even close. IOW it's easy to talk tough behind a keyboard. We're typing here instead of playing in the Super Bowl for a reason.

If you want to discuss this in relation to its impact on the team and the big game, fine, but no more calling anyone gay (or worse) over this. And no more discussing Question 6 in THIS forum. There's a whole 'nother forum for that.

Excuse me, but by suggesting he's gay is not a hate crime. Why are the mods here always trying to police the thoughts and opinions of us all? Because one doesn't agree with you, does not give you the Jesus authority to remove my comments. I don't know why anyone would be so passionate about an issue, and use the "TEAMS" public exposure to express this issue at the Super Bowl. He chose to make this about the team. He chose to talk about this publicly. It is relavant here, and it should be opened up for discussion. The fact that you sensor it makes you look very closed minded, and frankly I know many are tired of these volunteer mod's taking sides on an issue, and controlling the conversation. Debate is good, and no one said anything derogatory here. A blog or discussion forum is just that, it's about "discussion."
It' has been discussed elsewhere at length over the football season. It has been brought into the locker room and other players have been asked about it also. Not just me talked about this in "relation to the team." Let's start with several local and national media outlets. Brendon has injected this into this season, this team, and now at the Superbowl. But you find it offensive to question his sexuality or his sole purpose behind the assertion he makes about marriage equality.
I have gay friends who feel the same. It's my opinion that he's probably gay, and that's my right to draw this conclusion. Because you feel being gay is a horrific hateful title, and "no one should call him that", that's not my problem. Being gay is not calling someone a racist or a derogatory term.
You may be closed minded and not willing to accept gay people are among all communities, including the NFL, but I don't live in a bubble.
You have the opinion it don't belong here, I have the opinion it does. I'm simply questioning his intentions on why this issue is so important to draw national attention at the Super Bowl, and I have a right to "discuss" these conclusions in an open format. Now you can try to stand on your "volunteer mod" soap box, but by deleting my post you allege the term "gay" or homosexuality is a hateful assertion, and that's not the case.

Don't mix apples and oranges. We all know you are an apologist. I mean, have you ever said anything that questions anything? Have you ever made and argument. I mean, it's a discussion forum. You should try and use your mind to come up with an educated opinion instead of rubber stamping everything. Now moving on.. I happened to know several gay friends, and most of them are not as passionate about this subject as he is. When asked, they say it's because he's not comfortable with who he is, and his frustration spills out. Now, I'm not an expert.... but people who are passionate about the bible tend to go to church. People who are passionate about fitness go to the gym very often. I'm just throwing out the possibility that if he is "gay", he can certainly come out and put down these suggestions. He has taken upon himself to criticize politicians openly about this issue. Draw public attention to the team and the Ravens. He can certainly man up and let us know where he is on sexuality. I mean, come out It's 2013. And by this board censoring the word gay as a hateful term shows you how closed minded and out of touch many are... but it doesn't surprise me you will post. This board has protected everything you have to say. I realize I'm not a king here, and I won't be an apologist to make me look great behind the facade of a flailing blog.

RE: Question 6 is at it Again!
This is "Your Baltimore Ravens". It is not a political forum and whether or not someone is gay has nothing to do with the issue which is "does speaking out on this type of thing have an impact on the TEAM? This is the last warning to stick to the subject.

He brought this to the NFL, he is going to mention it at the pressor next week in NO. So it is about the team. It is a distraction. It is now being mentioned by several news outlets. So let's not whistle a happy tune and suggest it's not about the team. When he clearly uses the team and the players to push marriage equality. If he chooses to use the teams bully pulpit, he can take suggestive opinions that may or may not be accurate.

See now, saying that you think this will be a distraction for the team IS on topic. Stick to that and all is well.

Birdfan wrote: See now, saying that you think this will be a distraction for the team IS on topic. Stick to that and all is well. Agreed. I just wish before he distracts the team and makes comments, he just address his sexuality. To be honest, that's the only thing that's relevant when you choose to push this issue so aggressively. It's not a private issue when you are so publicly jamming it down others throats.
