Re: Cam Cameron gone
While getting rid of Cam right now would make a lot of people happy - including Flacco - it would strike me as odd because we just scored 28 on the road. Defense looks gross, but can you blame Pees? Lewis, Suggs, Webb, Smith, Elerbe, McBean, all out for significant stretches of time. Ngata, Reed just ailing. Specials teams has been damn near lights out with Jacoby returning, Kock punting, Tucker kicking . . . coverage has been decent and on the KR in OT I feel like there was an uncalled block in the back. If anyone, Cam. But I think its knee jerk to do anything. The fact is, our defense is just depleted, and guys are on the field who shouldn't be.

I don't think it's knee jerk.
Its the culmination of years of failure. Cam was on the hot seat all year. This is just the last straw.

PFT tweeted, its only a guess, but Cam probably out in Baltimore, Jim Caldwell likely to replace him.

But Lee Evans dropped the SuperBowl clincher last year, not Cam. The Ravens defense gave up a game tying TD and 2pt to Kirk Cousins, not Cam. The Ravens defense gave up a game tying TD and game winning field goal to Charlie Batch at home. We likely will be better long run with Cam gone. But doing it now is knee jerk. I dont think its a move that propels you to the Superbowl. Its a move that wreaks of desperation. Its a move that puts a 31 to 28 loss on a Unit and coordinator that just scored 28 on the road.

It may be knee jerk to do it at this point in the season, but I wouldn't give him a pass from yesterday's game. The Skins have one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. We did fine in the first half, but that second half was total garbage. They could not complete a single pass downfield. Flacco, with every pass attempt, looked, looked, looked and then either dumped off, got sack/stripped or threw a pick. Could nobody get open against that defense? Come on. Something was wrong. Either Flacco couldn't find the open receivers, or they weren't getting open. If they weren't getting open, then why not? When the pattern of going straight down the field and stopping gets covered, maybe try something a bit more creative.

Since Houston.

Re: Cam Cameron gone
Again, whatever you personal crusades are, I just happen to remember 28 points being scored, and a defense giving up 8 points with 5 minutes left to Kirk Cousins. Maybe Caldwell is the guy. Maybe letting Joe run the Sugar Huddle again full time is the solution. I dont know. I just know this feels a move to make a move. The problem is a defense that is now a sieve. And there isn't a fix, because its a personnel problem more than it is coaching.

I don't know what personal crusades you are on, but Joe gave up a 10 point swing on turnovers. 3 points for sure he gave up when he tossed the ball errantly to L. Fletcher. That last drive is pointless if Joe don't turn the ball over. Bank it!

Just pointing out the obvious, ever since we tried to run offense at "Patriots speed" (Dierdorff's words after our magnificant opening drive in Houston) Flacco has failed when attempted. We're NOT a no huddle offense. We SHOULDN'T run no huddle. I'm not sure why people think we should after watching how horrendous we've been 90% of the time when we run it.

It just seems that you are ready on the trigger whenever there is any talk about Flacco or the offense in general. And don't get me wrong. I think Flacco deserved a lot of the blame. He needs to step up in the pocket and get the ball out on time or throw it away. Two straight weeks he has let the backside pressure knock the ball out of his hands in crucial situations. I'd love to know who is to blame for those back to back plays where they let an unblocked man come right in and nail Flacco. It was either Flacco who failed to account for the extra man at the line of scrimmage, Birk for not setting the correct blocking schemes, or Cameron for not allowing them to check out of the play. Those were two killer plays that really made the difference. Well those two along with the failed Oher block that got the strip/sack.

RE: Cam Cameron gone
Flacco is responsible for missing that, not Cam. I have a very hard time believing that Flacco is "not allowed" to change the protection scheme when one side of the line is overloaded. And even if Cam told him not to, he's in his fifth year, he needs to do it anyways.

Let Caldwell finish the year. Then consider Whisenhunt. He'll probably get fired and he has experience in the AFCN.

But the lineman's assignments are coming from Birk, and with the way he is playing physically, his mind is supposed to be the one thing he's good for. Getting TEs and RBs to pickup pressure, and maybe asking the line to slide protection, yeah thats Flacco. But if Cam is purposely getting plays in late instead of early, what can you do?
You can fire him I guess (if they fire him). But honestly, I still hold that the 8 point lead was given up by the defense. Turnovers or not, the lead was there to be held.

UGH! same way Cameron is still a coach in the NFL.... i cant stand the guy, but yesterday wasnt his fault. Flacco pooped the bed, and the defense couldbt get a stop when we needed one...some guy wearing a turtleneck came in off the bench and made throws to win the game.

Re: Cam Cameron gone
When you lose a home game in the last minute to a 100 year old QB who's a bench warmer, then give up the tying TD and TWO pt conversion in the last minute to a rookie filling in for a rookie, odds are the DC is the man on the hot seat, not the OC.
Cam is like Cavanaugh, it will take a crowd with pitchforks and burning torches to get him out of town.
EDIT: Correction to my red faced comment, posted before the news hit. I'm glad I was wrong!!!!!
