Re: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
He'll be used as an extra tackle/TE eligible on certain run downs. The same way they brought Roland along. I'd love to see them go big early with Andre and pound out the Ravens front 7. Get Benson behind Bobbie, Roland and Andre and play some smash mouth football.

Re: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
Eh. Makes me rather nervous to be playing a rookie in his first game ever against the Ravens who are blood thirsty and talented right now. I'd rather stick with what's been working.

Re: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
If there is one thing Smith could do right away, it's run block. So I would have no problem seeing him get some snaps as an extra OT/TE on run downs. Look at our runs behind the right side: Running plays by the Bengals (by direction, carries, gain per carry, NFL rank ) Left end: 21 carries, 5.81 yds, 12th Left tackle: 36 carries, 4.67 yds, 9th Left guard: 19 carries, 6.68 yds, 4th Up middle: 28 carries, 4.04 yds, 17th
Right guard: 26 carries, 2.81 yds, 28th Right tackle: 30 carries, 3.80 yds, 21st Right end: 40 carries, 3.68 yds, 22nd

They will probably have to dumb it down a little. See big guy. Hit big guy. Come back to bench.

Their best is behind the LG, which you'd think would be their weakest based on personnel.

We finally get to see if he can play or not.......I don't expect a heck of a lot considering how long he's been ....out.

Re: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
How did he do? Are you guys generally positive about having him on the team or no? Did he burn some serious bridges with his holdout? You guys look to have a nice team this year. Pretty bummed about what happened with Antwaan Odom. He is from a town about five miles from where I am sitting right now, and of course Crimson Tide fans remember him as a hard-working kid who did his job without a lick of trouble. I have to admit that he rather blossomed once he got to the NFL and that I am not sure we expected him to produce as he has, but I am happy for him. Good luck. rtr

Re: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
I don't think he was even out there... If he was, nothing he did excited me enough to notice he was there.

Smith was inactive. Perhaps he'll play next week.

RE: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
I think Smith is going to be a beast, but our Oline is doing fine without him. If it ain't broke - don't break it. It is good to have a potential future probowler in reserve. Let him heal completely as we have the unprecedented luxury of not needing him right now.

Do any of you think he'll see any playing time this week?

Unless he is needed because of an injury, I don't think the Steelers defense is a good time to be tinkering with an OL -- especially for getting a rookie's feet wet. But hey, I don't make the calls.

RE: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
I agree, Pagal. Unless he's somehow miraculously ready after being inactive just one week before, I don't think now is the time to get his feet wet. But then again, there's that trial by fire mentality to consider where you can really see what he's made of (my guess is lots and lots of marshmallows and cheeseburgers).

RE: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
Timely opportunity to note that despite all of our preseason fears about this ramshackle offensive line that they have performed incredibly well. #2 RB in the league, # 9 rushing attack and the 5th least sacks given up. Not too shabby from a bunch of stiffs. Later, BFITO

Hell, they can't even get their first round pick on the field- partially because the rest of the line is playing so well. And Roland appears to be better than Collins. Three undrafted free agents played on Sunday for the majority of the snaps. The bigger question is....does the personnel department (Lippincott/Brown family/some coach input) or Alexander get the credit for this. Seriously....three undrafted free agents play on the line. Think about that for a second. Burger King budget with Ruth Chris results.

One thing it goes to show is that Mike Brown is a football imbecile and that the coaches have to treat all his draft picks with kid gloves. They had the play the stiff for 2+ years to get Brown to dump him. Simpson continues to occupy a roster spot because they can't tell Mikey Boy he's a turd and was a horrible draft pick.

RE: Andre Smith to make his "Debut"
I can just imagine all the coaches siiting around like 4th graders while Mike Brown addresses them from the front of the class... Trying to explain to him why Andre Smith can't play Defensive end.

How many times have these undrafted free agents, or high draft picks HAVEN'T worked out. Brown/Lippincott just got lucky this time around. Don't get me wrong, I think they are capable players, but their success doesn't validate the piss-poor way Mike Brown runs this team.
