Texans lose Knapp to Raiders

Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp named Raiders offensive coordinator

The Texans have lost quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp to the Oakland Raiders.

Knapp spent the last two seasons with the Texans and did an outstanding job coaching rookie T.J. Yates this season.

Before he was hired by coach Gary Kubiak, Knapp had been an offensive coordinator in his four previous jobs, including Oakland, where he’ll be reunited with new Raiders coach Dennis Allen.

Knapp and Allen coached together at Atlanta.

Before he left to coach the AFC team in the Pro Bowl, Kubiak said he was worried that one of the new head coaches in the NFL would try to hire Knapp as offensive coordinator. Knapp is highly regarded around the NFL.

Kubiak said he hoped to have his entire staff returning next season, so now he’ll be in the market for another quarterbacks coach for Yates, Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart.
