I think if we can get to 5 wins, and put together a good offseason, there could be some excitement swirling around Arrowhead entering the 2010 season. Add those 2 things together and 9 wins isnt impossible in 2010, which would be quite a leap considering the past couple of seasons. The remaining 9 games will be about establishing some cornerstones, answering questions and laying out the foundation for next season.

I said 6 wins to start the season and totally blowing the Raiders game puts me at a 5 win prediction now. I think we beat Jacksonville, Oakland, Buffalo, and Cleveland. However, I could also see us pulling 1 upset and then laying an egg in one of those 4 games. The most likely upset would have to be @ Cincinnati that team is so hot/cold week to week that we could catch them on a down week, plus they don't have a good defense.
Chiefs Record with The Chieftain in Attendance: 3-0
2003 vs. Buffalo W 38-5
2005 vs. Cincinnati W 37-3
2006 vs. Jacksonville W 35-30

I still think four wins but it really depends on how the team rally’s around the management with the LJ saga. There are always opinions. How many players secretly feel the way LJ does? How many players truly stand behind the coaching style of Haley?

Those two questions placed head-to-head will determine the season and what happens next year. The trouble is, we as fans will never really know.

I think right now it is just as conceivable that we blow all four of these possible games and the "swirling around Arrowhead" won't be exitement.

I think this next week or two are going to answer the question as to whether or not Todd Haley is really Head Coach material.  Mr. "I can win two games with 22 guys off the streets" has been humbled; he has the by week to win this team back or lose them completely.

In addition, I think the collective bargaining agreement needs to be settled.  If it isn't, I have a feeling KC would have some trouble making any real progress.

Come next season, with no agreement and no salary cap, with the car space the Chiefs have, wouldn't this be to our advantage? I dont know just asking.

eek1  If we keep playing the way we're playing does anybody realistically think we'll win 5 games?  I would be shocked if we win 2 more to be honest.  Look I have been a die hard fans for years (back in late 70's on (when we stunk it up often) I think we are seriously off track and Haley is not the man to put us back on that track.  I think Cowher would be the spark this team would need to be a contender once again.  We've played well at time but we're too inconsistent.  (young team I know)  Right now I think the girl scouts would give this team fits.  Hopefully this changes as I would love to see the Chiefs be in the playoffs.  I am a transplanted Missourian who lives in Ohio and have seen the Bengals win games this year.  So yes there is hope wink

Not real sure corpsboy.  I was thinking that if there was no cap, then our "cap space" would mean aboslutely nothing.  The Cowboys, Redskins, Giants, and any other large market teams could just hand over contracts that are not condusive to  the middle market or small market team's budgets.

The way we are playing we might not win another game this season.

This biggest advantage to KC in the event that there is an uncapped year is that if they bring the cap back the very next year, then there would be a ton of teams with really big cap problems. A lot of good players would be cut and the Chiefs would have money to spend.

That said, I'd still rather not see an uncapped year, because if that happens the players won't want the cap to ever return (thinking MLB here).

Guys, there are what you would call "poison pills" in the CBA to take care of this so-called uncapped year. The way I understand it, the guys that were about to become FA's after there 4th year, are now RFA's and have to wait until year 6 in an uncapped year. There was also some other things, but the owners in this league are not stupid, and they are the ones that opted out a year early. I really don't think you are going to see a NY Yankees type of spending spree by the Jones', Snyders', and Davis'.
