Dalton Deal Offers No Middle Ground for Smith & Chiefs

DALTON DEAL PUTS CHIEFS IN HARD SPOT

When the Cincinnati Bengals inked Quarterback, Andy Dalton to a 6 year $115 million contract on Monday, that sent flairs in the skies over Kansas City. Now the Chiefs might have to reset their bar in order to get Alex Smith under contract for 2015 and beyond.

I keep hearing 17 or 17.5 being offered. I feel it's only fair when saying that to give the disclaimer of guaranteed versus total contract that won't likely be met without restructure. Too many fans will just see 17 isn't enough and get upset/more tired of it. It's not just pride and money going over and not under 18. Give 17 or less with real guaranteed and Smith will sign.
