Brandon Weeden????

Brandon Weeden????

I want to throw a lil  monkey wrench into the works. I'm a getting tired of all the Flynn, Manning, Move up for RGlll talk.

I think we should take a serious look at Weeden, I know the dude is 28, but you have to take into consideration that it isn't 28 years of football wear and tear. He was a baseball player, that came in late to be Oaklahoma St. QB. I watch this guy and listen to him in interviews and I see a Andy Dalton Clone. The guy has a good head on his shoulders and could come in and push TJack from day 1, and probably starting by week 6.

I'm not opposed to making a move for RGlll if we were able to move up without saleing the farm. Like swap 1st, give our 2012 2nd, 2013 1st & 3rd.  That sounds like a lot, but Seattle has never seen anything in the form of RGlll, He could cause a full blown earthquake @ Quest "Century LinK". But I don't really see the rams trading with us, and I'm not sure that Pete/JS give up that musck realestate.

Where we sit on the lip of the cup, with a young hungry team, that is buying into Pete's system, WE must find a legit Signal Caller that can help us make that next step, and keep the positive vibe going. If we like what Weeden offers, then we could pull the trigger at 11-12 or move down and gain another late 2nd or 3rd round pick. Just my 2 cents GO HAWKS!

Re: Brandon Weeden????

Am with you Seachicken.

Like you said he is 28 and that is the drawback.

RGIII if we do not have to give away too much to move up without selling the farm as you say.

Question, why do we have to trade with the Rams to be in position for RGIII, don't they already have their QB in Sam Bradford?

Re: Brandon Weeden????

Yeah but the Rams have a lot of holes to fill and at #2 they will trade the pick to the highest bidder for the services of Robert Griffin III. It is widely thought that the Browns will trade both of their picks for that one.

Re: Brandon Weeden????

If I was the browns I wouldn't trade up for Griffin, They are not even close to having that team headed towards the playoffs, they need to use there picks on solid starter type guys, 1 home run hitter isn't going to do anything for them when he would literaly be there only offensive weapon same for the Redskins. The Browns being the browns they will prob do something foolish and trade away their 2 1st round picks, and they will still find them selves in the bottom of the league not focusing on there needs over wants. Pete should right a book for teams like the Browns, Dolphins, Rams, raiders to read. What we have dealt with the last few drafts hasn't been all that fun and sexy, but in 2 years a complete house cleaning, 3 of our top picks being used toward stud roadgraders, We are in a position I feel we are about a stud signal caller away, from being a main stay in the playoffs for years to come. I mean we have, well after FA we will have the youngest team in the NFL. If we don't go for RGlll, I am really leaning towards the trade down in the 1st take Weeden there, and focus the rest of our early picks on needs, DE/DL, LB, RB. I think ol Mr. Smiley has something dirty up his sleeve. I see him havein his eye on someone this year he wants to make his guy, or he is trying to fill in the rest of the cracks this year in FA/Draft. Then next year selling the farm on his boy Barkley.

Re: Brandon Weeden????

Ving and Seachicken,

Both of you thinking outside the box is great.

Intriguing to think about trading down for Weedum or if you really want be creative, trade down for Weedum and  use a 5th or 6th round throwaway pick to draft Barkley(kind of like Cowboys and Roger Staubach a zillion yers ago) and secure his rights knowing he would come on board in 2013.

By trading down you pickup extra picks and have a throwaway pick.

Not by any means a sure thing but definitely thinking outside the box.

RE: Brandon Weeden????

While at 28 that is very old for a QB of the future. While not that old if he was good enough to start right away. It is a very unusual situation. He doesn't have much experience in football, but has been playing in a somewhat pro-style offense. May not be a bad middle round pick, but not a 1st, nor 2nd for sure.

Re: Brandon Weeden????

I'm with ya Calibur! Well for the most part anyways. I agree drafting any of the QB's left for us after Luck & RGlll in the 1st round would be a reach. We had our eye on Dalton and Mallet last year and never pulled the trigger??? Now we find ourselves in the same position not high enough or in the right spot to take a QB in the 1st. If we are unable to move down and gain an extra pick, not a throw away like someone said, Pete takes risk picks late, but never throws them away! If we remain at 11-12 I think we take the DE/DL that most fits us. If we r able to move down which I'm hopeing for, which could change things in a big way. With four picks in the first 3 rounds, we could get the BPA at our need positions, and take a chance on a QB like Tannehill, Osweller, Weeden, Foyles. Or a later pick on Cousins or Coleman. I think the 4 picks could be on late 1st best DL or LB, Martin or Tannehill. @#44 Martin , DE/LB/DL. Late 2nd from trade down, Osweller, weeden, Foyles(reminds me a lot of Rothlisberger). 3rd round BPA OLB, CB/S. I Know our needs chqnge a lot if we were able to obtain the services from Manning, Flynn, or Mario Williams. And I know I've been on a Doug Martin rant the last fee days, but it is blowing up to a full on man crush, if u haven't seen the film on this guy yet check it out besides a beast of a back at 5'10" 220lbs he can also catch, pick up the blitz, and one hell of a kick returned. Just my 2 cents GO HAWKS!

RE: Brandon Weeden????

just read Mike Mayocks top QB prospects on NFL network. He likes Weeden. But not as a first rounder or maybe even 3rd. But he also says he must play immediately and well, because of his age. I really don't think with his limited playing time he is worth picking up. Also, do we really want a guy who gave up a chance to play football to waste away his age playing 5 yrs of minor league ball. This guy is here for the paycheck, i don't think he loves tha game. We want someone who loves the game and dreamed of playing it since he was a kid. Not a guy looking for a paycheck.
