Dallas fan here....

Dallas fan here....

I'm here hoping for a good, clean game without any injuries on both teams. I know  you guys have suffered some tough ones this year, especially on the o-line.

I think you guys are a very different team with Hasselbeck in there obviously. He's a hell of a QB, can make all the throws and can read defenses with the best of them.

Romo has been scrutinized but he is quietly having a very good year. I guess when you are the QB for the Dallas Cowboys it goes with the territory.

Keys to the game:

Seattle

  • Must stop the Dallas rushing attack. #1 in priority IMO. Dallas is second in the league in rushing I believe with a little over 150yds per game. Barber, Felix and Choice are a tough group to deal with and must be limited.
  • Cover Witten well. I think Witten could be poised to have a big game because of the emergence of Miles Austin. He is Romo's #1 target, especially on 3rd downs.
  • Limit big plays. Dallas is one of the best teams in the NFL in plays over 20 yds. Limit the long ball to Austin and make sure long runs don't hurt the defense, especially when Felix Jones is in the game.

Dallas

  • Pressure Hasselbeck. With the injuries to the o-line, Dallas should be chomping at the bit to get to the QB. Especially from the outside with Ware and Spencer.
  • Be able to stop the run with 7 men in the box. With Seattle struggling a little this year running the ball, if Dallas D can stop the run without committing 8 or 9 in the box, then they can focus on Seattle's strength and that's the passing game.
  • Play better defense in the secondary. Dallas is sporting the 22nd ranked pass defense in the NFL. Not good considering they are facing a pro bowl QB who can find the open receiver. They must play better in the back half of the field.

Just wanted to talk a little football without the trash talk. Even though Seattle is 2-4, this is a dangerous game for Dallas IMO. It has "trap" written all over it and you can't take any team for granted. Coming off of a big win against the Falcons, I don't want Dallas to be over confident and play flat. I think you guys will love the new stadium, it's a thing of beauty, hopefully no one hits the giant TV sitting over the field....heheh

Good luck fellas....

Re: Dallas fan here....

This post destroys my whole paradigm. A Cowboys fan just posted a reasonable analysis of our matchup. tongue

I agree with most of what you say, but I think it can be simplified:

If you can pressure Hasselbeck anywhere near the way Arizona did it a couple of weeks ago, this game won't even be close. If the return to the lineup of Rob Sims (our LG) and the addition of McIntosh (LT) can help us protect within reason, we stand a chance.

Arizona made the Super Bowl last year...

And this year we encounter a classy cowboys fan...

I am getting a little freaked out here!! Are these the signs of the apocalypse??

Wow, 2012 must be coming, a good rational and reasonable post from a Cowboys fan.

Completely agree with MM, thanks for your thoughts.

The spread on this game is Dallas -9.5, I expect it will be closer than that if the OLine can give Matt some time in the pocket.

Don't know if I should be insulted or say thanks. You should come over to the Ranch, there are a lot of reasonable, intelligent posters on there.

It could be much worse, I could be an Eagles fan (Just the thought makes me sick)

I don't know if it will be close or not, I just think a win is always tough to come by in the NFL. When Dallas played the Chiefs, everyone thought it was going to be a blow out, I knew it would be close because KC was still trying to salvage the season and get on track with a W.

I see the Seahawks much the same. I think 2-4 is not as bad as some might think and they are coming in with 2 weeks to prepare for Dallas.

By the way, I travel to games and I have never been to Seattle. That stadium looks real nice, hope to make my way there sometime.
