Considering the chances of Seattle getting to the playoffs...
are slim...do you think it would be smart to shut down guys like Marcus Trufant and Leroy Hill letting them rest and get back to 100% health before next season? Part of me says yes, but a big part of me says no because I don't want to get the impression they are giving up on the season.

Naaaaaaaaaaa.......but I do see your point. But we're still alive and even though this feels very much like last yr., gettin' good guys back is never a bad thing.

Re: Considering the chances of Seattle getting to the
On the surface I would agree, but football years are a lot like dog years and as much as I have been programmed to think higher draft picks are better (50/50 round 1 right?), going 4-12 really sucks ass so I am willing let these guys play now, next year be damned.... the more time that passes for a pro football player, the worse off they are exponentially because tru has certainly out lasted the average life span right? and Hill, well if he ever completed an entire season he would not only earn his money but it would be a first...

I think it is top early to shut it down... to many things can happen were just a few of games out... SF seems to be losing and if AZ gets a couple of key injuries we could be right back in it.... LTH68

Re: Considering the chances of Seattle getting to the
Why not give hass the year off and let him fully recover too? I think the answer would be: The seahawks do not play in a lingerie football league nor do our players need a paid year off to rest aches and pains. They are paid millions to "man up" and get on the field if they are in anything resembling good enough shape to do so... Scott, was the little part of you that "said yes" looking (too far) forward to the tantalizing draft prospects of 2010 that we would be in position to draft if we gave up?????

Not as much as I want guys like Trufant (who has a back injury and backs are always tricky) healthy for next season. Like I said...just throwing it out there. I wasn't advocating doing it...just would understand if that's the tact they take.

The seahawks are not out of it by any means. When the team is clicking they can be one of the best in the league.

Re: Considering the chances of Seattle getting to the
Sadly, as bad as we're playing, we're really not out of it. Carolina decided to show up and beat up the Cards for what happened in the playoffs last year and SF went up against a very good team in Indy and gave them all they could handle. Then again, the glass half empty guys could say that we are almost tied with St Louis at the bottom...

Being as i am part of those that look at the glass as half full (though i am getting thirsty) after we destroy the lions and regain our false sense of security we hit a stretch where It will be decided whether the second half of the season involves "mathematical " hope or actual "we can still make the playoffs" hope I don't think any of us see the hawks going to Minnesota and winning but if we can beat both of our division rivals in the upcoming away game trifecta we will be firmly planted in the middle of the nfc west race... Now if we get swept in the three away games or are beaten at home by the lowly lions I will abandon all hope and begin the push for losses...ummm I mean draft picks

RE: Considering the chances of Seattle getting to the playoffs..
I have to say no. These guys are here to play football and that includes the regular season in a year when we aren't going to the playoffs. I also think that part of healing includes getting back on the field and putting your body through the paces. Within reason of course. I want these guys healthy next year too...but Seattle should be putting the best players available on the field every game.
