Ward, Porter, Haynesworth called NFL's dirtiest players

With Rodney Harrison retiring, it was an open race for #1

Even if there was a way Hines Ward could be considered a 'dirty' player, which I don't think there is, I LOVE how that guy plays the game.

Perfect list. Ward is a piece of garbage. I would also add Cortland Finnegan and VInce Wilfork.

Haynesworth, yes.  Ward, not seeing it.  He is probably the toughest WR in the game.  He searches for victims to demolish.

I figured that #1 on the list would be the generic "Anyone who attempts to sack Tom Brady".biggrin

Yeah, I don't think Ward is dirty.  He's tough as nails at the WR position.  I'd give the award to Haynesherway all because of the head stomp.

Good God, If Hines won because of his physicality in blocking, wait another year or two and Garcon will be topping that list.

If Garcon starts blocking people like Ward does I would be thrilled.  Thrilled!

Not a surprise. The Steelers and Titans are probably the two dirtiest teams in the NFL today. I'm sure the coaches for the Patriots will use this to motivate their young players to be dirtier. They can't have this, no Patriots in the top five? Why that's an outrage!

As for Ward, I find the posts here funny. Fans don't see it because he's a receiver but clearly the players do.

Ward Dirty player? I would never think so. A heck of a physical wide receiver who takes pride in playing tough.

Garcon is a penalty machine right now.

I dunno. Sometimes Ward looks like a complete douche with the way he seems to only look for the guys who arent staring at him to hit.

Id like to see him take on one of those guys that are looking at him. Of course he probably never will and will be labled "smart" because he jacks up guys with a sucker punch

This is a great example. Fans will love a play like this because a guy took a hard hit and the receiver was physical, but he lead with the helmet.

When it comes to Steeler players, I think Harrison is the dirtiest, but again, the players know better than the fans. They're the ones on the field playing the game.

Exactly, look at the video I just posted. He went after Ed Reed with his helmet, while Reed wasn't looking and on a play where a block like that was completely unnecessary. But hey, it's football, man up, right. Yeah, until guys start getting concussions and other head injuries on blind side blocks by pricks like Ward.

Please.  Reed was right in front of him... facing him.  I mean, he hit him square in the chest.  If Reed "didn't see him," that was his own damn fault.  And how exactly is a block out in front of an in-progress play "completely unnecessary?"  How completely unnecessary is a block on the next closest defender if the runner breaks free from the tackle behind the block?  Big plays break downfield because the blockers assume the importance that they carry out their blocks.  And if they don't have a guy to block... find one.

If Reed doesn't want to get blocked, he shouldn't be running toward the play.  If the play was so over, why did he start sprinting toward it right before Ward blocked him, anyway?  And the absurd double standard that some want to apply to only certain players as far as taking shots when the opponents don't see them is hilarious.  I'm sure that you cry foul every time Freeney wrecks a quarterback from the blindside, right?

Oh, and the idea that Ward doesn't block guys who see him coming is--what's the word?--stupid.  Most of the starting tight ends in the league aren't as effective blockers at the point.

Basically, quit whining.
