Irvin on Roy: "He didn't listen to me."

Irvin on Roy: "He didn't listen to me."

http://sportsmediablog.dallasn...s-he-hasnt.html

I actually heard this segment live - Horn is not fibbing. I was shocked when I heard Irvin talk about Roy's unwillingness to listen to him in training camp. Irvin even tried to clear the air with Roy but he would have nothing of it.

Ok, now I'm officially scared of this whole Roy W. experiment... Despite his problems in the past, I thought the guy would be open to building on his amazing natural skillset.

All of that said, I'm not sure why Irvin came out with this now... He's stirring the pot when he doesn't have to do so.

Re: Irvin on Roy: "He didn't listen to me."

I think something needs to stir the pot. We gave up a 1,3,6 round draft pick. Paid the guy some $45 mil.

Roy W. and Romo look completely out of sink. Romo is the first one in and last one out of the locker room so I know the miscommunication is not because of Romo. Roy W. has had a reputation for being lazy and doesnt want to work hard. Someone needs to light some fire under his a$$. He is rapidly becoming our 4th option behind Smiles Austin, Witten, and arguably Crayton. Now he is rumored to not be listening to a hall of famer who's name and # are on the ring of honor in the stadium he is playing in. Roy needs to a get a clue!

Crayton gets his starting punt return job stripped from him and what does he do? Consecutive games with a punt return. Crayton has more receptions and receiving yards than Roy. Sit Roy and make him earn his starting spot. Just because he is paid more than the other guys shouldnt get him a starting receiver slot.

I'll give Roy Williams another 2-3 games only because he has been injured so much. If he doesn't start to get on the right page by then, I'm all for benching him. Right now, I would have him splitting time with the other WR's.

Just BEAT the Giants next Sunday!

I can't believe this. I liked the trade at first and have been defending roy since day one BUT this is just not forgivable. Roy should listen to one of the greatest cowboys of all time. Hell he should listen to Miles at this point. I agree with drcowboy. I'm going to give him a couple more games to see what comes of it before I kick this guy to the curb.

To be fair to Roy, the incident Irvin speaks of was back in training camp in San Antonio. Still, I just hope that Roy and Romo get in sync. The guy should be a great possession receiver and force in the red zone.

It's hard to trash RW over this since we don't know exactly how it went down, but it's in his best interest to at least pretend to listen to people like Irvin and not blow him off.   Not too suprised though, RW has a pretty big ego from what I've seen (lots of WRs do), but until he actually produces some results here he needs to at least pretend to be open-minded and coachable.

Call me crazy but in listening to R. Williams in his interviews on DC.com. He seems very condescending, he seems almost arrogant.

When asked questions, he always seems say things like "I'm just doing what they coach me to do". With a smug look on his face.

IDK but I just see that he thinks he's very good and he's very confident and I think he's having a tough time realizing it wasn't just going to fall in his lap here in Dallas.

D. Ware to Romo: "What does that Romo mean on the back of your jersey?

Romo: "Superman?"

Dday22 - +1

At least make it look like you're interested in learning from an all time great HOF WR. Like Irvin or not, he knows how to play the position as well as anybody in history, had the same qualitis that RW is supposed to have, so come on Roy, stop being a pig headed ignoramous.

I think it's time to stop acting like Roy is good. Because he sucks.

Re: Irvin on Roy: "He didn't listen to me."

Well when I first read this I'm not going to lie I was flushed, but I sat back and thought about it. Mike and Deion ripped Roy a new one the minute TO was released from Dallas, Mike also said that Roy could never be a number 1. He also said Roy doesn't run good routes, so as a man I can see where there maybe a little hostility towards Mike at this point. Now Mike has decided to make even more personal by pumping up Miles as a true number 1 WR in Dallas. It's trivial high school bull if you ask me on both sides. This is the biggest week for the Boys this season why come out now stirring the pot, why not say it in training camp. Then for Roy why would you not listen to a man that earned a gold jacket doing the very thing you're doing right now in the very same offense almost? I find it to be mind numbing the amount of crap that gets stirred up when it comes to our team. Well TO is not here for Philly week so I guess something had to shake the hornets out of the nest....good job Mike and even better job Roy.

Roy's excuse: My hands were abducted by Aliens and they Left me with these two Cinder-Block Gloves. Really I'm not a bad #1!

Roy took the part he liked from Michael's game -- the signaling for first downs -- and left the rest for someone else to worry about.

Thats great! Roy is a grown man. So why is he getting his feelings hurt for something Irvin said about him. What happened to proving your critics wrong and not pouting like a small child. Someone give Roy his teddy bear and leave him alone while he sucks his thumb.

RE: Irvin on Roy: "He didn't listen to me."

The sooner Jerry figures out that Roy is not good the better. If I was the coach Roy wouldn't be playing this week. As much as the Cowboys say it isn't, this is a must win game. We cannot afford to throw Roy out there and have him and Romo be on completely different pages the whole game. I would feel much more comfortable with a WR core of Austin, Crayton, Hurd & Ogletree.

And he's the 3rd highest paid player on the team. He gets $9 million a year.

Ridiculous.

I love Jerry as an owner. But why is he so quick to give some of these guys huge contracts. So stupid

Re: Irvin on Roy: "He didn't listen to me."

One thing Irvin said RW didn't listen to was that Irvin advised RW to catch passes with his body when going across the middle. While I understand why Irvin advised this (better chance to hold onto the ball after being hit), I don't blame RW at all for saying that's not the way he does it or plans to do it. That saod, if I'm a WR and the playmaker has ANYTHING to tell me, I listen. Listen and implement are two different things.

come on guys, let's give him another three years before we call him a bust, you know like carp and stanback, it's the standard here in Dallas.  We have a reputation to hold up.
