Keith Brooking is saving Wade's job.....

I know that people thought that Brooking couldn't cover anymore and that he had lost a step, but the man plays with a passion that appears to be contagious....He doesn't have a lot of false steps and he is a vocal leader that appears to be respected....

As much as I wanted Wade to go, I will have to give him a ton of credit if this team makes the playoffs....And it will be thanks to some of "his" players (Brooking, Igor, etc.)....

Sorry but I won't. This team has no business NOT making the playoffs. Wade was handed over the keys to a Ferrari and now you want to be impressed because he can drive fast?

Everyone knew, including Wade, that the pressure was huge in Dallas. He was inheriting a playoff team from Parcells and his job was to take the defense to the next level and make sure the ship was tip top shape.

The defense is 22nd in the league and Dallas failed to make the playoffs last year. This is a make or break year for Wade, if he doesn't win AT LEAST a playoff game, he's gone.

With Cowher, Holmgren, Chucky or any of the other big named coaches out there, you better believe that Jerry isn't about to let one of them go.

Brooking has been a great asset to this team but let's be real, it's not as if he's the best player on the defense or saving the defense. He's a solid MLB who is a vocal leader and I love it but that won't be enough to win a playoff game or go to the SB. The whole defense, especially the secondary needs to get better.

Yes they have and I love it. I just can't all of a sudden be impressed with something Wade should have been doing from the get go.

Im biased, I'm just not a big fan of Wade, you guys know this. I am in his corner though and I hope he wins a SB with this team.

With all the new guys on defense I knew it was going to take a minute for them to get together. I think they are in the fine tuning mode now.

The "Parcells handed Wade the keys to a Ferrari" talk always cracks me up. That race car couldn't even win one round of qualifying.

Barry Switzer was handed the key to a Ferrari... Wade wasn't.

I will admit Jenkins has been playing better lately.

Re: Keith Brookings is saving Wade's job.....

It's not JUST Brooking that's causing the defense to play better (although he's a major part of it).  The keys to this defense are:  Jay Ratliff continuing to play like a monster in the middle (not to be taken for granted, because a lot of guys have one big year and then fall off--Jay's continuing to play at a high level), Olshansky filling in admirably for Canty, Ware starting to terrorize QBs again, Anthony Spencer providing solid play (even though he doesn't have a sack, he's been playing great), Brooking (obviously--not just for his play, but for his leadership as well), Gerald Sensabaugh bringing the Safety position back to Dallas, and Mike Jenkins stepping up and playing like a seasoned vet in only his second year.

And you can't forget the offense (the #2 offense in the entire league, by the way, AHEAD of teams like the Patriots and Colts).  The fact that the entire TEAM is finally playing to their potential is the reason why this team is headed down the right path; not just Brooking.  Although one could argue (and I think I have in the past) that Brooking's leadership is really the missing piece of this defense (and possibly the entire team).  So, not to downplay Brooking's role in all of this, but the entire TEAM is playing like they believe.

When I was a boy, I dreamed of playing FOOTBALL! Every kickoff is possibility, every down a war, and every now and then it doesn't come down to fancy strategy, or speed, or strength. It comes down to WHO HAS MORE HEART.

Re: Keith Brookings is saving Wade's job.....

The thing about brooking is he's a leader a high motor type of player this defense needed a fire to be ignited and he was a big part of it. We already knew how good ware and ratliff were but I think B. james is a better player along side brooking not that he wasn't before but I think his play is more consistant anyways this defense is gaining confidence with each game being played and they are getting a swagger. Don't know if brooking alone is saving wade's job but he is a big part of this defenses success we have yet to see the best from this defense and believe me that's a good thing considering the job they are currently doing.wink

He's apparently the new Jason "Whitten."  It only took...........what?..............six or seven years before Cowboys fans learned that there was no H in his name?

He still has to win a playoff game IMO to keep his job.

You know what? I have never heard that Wade's job is in trouble if he doesn't win a playoff game from the Cowboys organization. Where did that come from? The media maybe? hmmmmmmmmmm...........

Do you know what IMO means???? It means in my opinion which means it came from me. Remember reading is fundamental.

Your right...the defense should have been #1 since Wade stepped in and had no time to gel. And the fact that we had two rookies at corner last year is no excuse.  eek1

I actually believe Wade right now is doing a great job.  I have often criticized Wade but clearly he has taken personal steps to be more involved in the defense and as a head coach.  Garrett, Joe D., all of the coaching staff deserve kudos for getting the players in the right mode.

Parcells did not hand Wade keys to the Ferrari, if he did that Ferrari had transmission failure and the wheels came off.   If it was a Ferrari then why didn't Parcells win the race with it.

On another front Switzer didn't get handed the Ferrari either.  The Cowboys lost  Jimmy Johnson players during Barry's  tenure which commenced in 1994 and it was also the onset of the salary cap and free agency.
