The Cowboys know how bad the defense will be

The Cowboys know how bad the defense will be

I listen to Talking Cowboys almost everyday. I notice something in all the time I listen while I work and that's they are most definitely "company men".

Meaning Spagnola, Broaduss and the rest, preach positivity almost all the time concerning the Cowboys. They NEVER talk negative against Jerry Jones, and almost always cut callers off who do or attempt to. That's for obvious reasons, mostly because of the signature on their checks.

This year though, I think they have let the cat out of the bag a bit. Broaduss the other day talked about some players that were released by NE and the desire by some fans to pick them up, he then talked to a good friend who works for the Pats.

He said "My buddy acknowledged the terrible situation we are in concerning the defense, but told me those players are done in the NFL". He's given many different clues in describing the defense. He also mentioned another coach from the Raiders who commented about how "poor" the roster was on defense. He's also mentioned how the offense will have to carry the day, etc.

So the reason I bring this up is because the coaching staff and Jerry Jones have to know the defense is going to be absolutely terrible this year. So if they know this, will they still put the pressure on Garrett to win this year the way the media is portraying it to be?

If Garrett does get an extension, will it be because Jerry understands the situation and will give him a couple more years to get the defense fixed? I just wonder because this year more than ever the guys on Talking Cowboys have definitely given away some clues as to how they understand the situation on defense.

As I expected, no intelligent response.  bored1

Anyway, I thought it was interesting to see how the language they are using is sort of showing their hand.

It doesn't warrant an intelligent response, Because it isn't an intelligent observation. We get it, people think the d is worse having lost Ware and Hatcher. Let's see it how it plays out, they were bad last season so of course they have show they're better this season. We knew that before the season ended last year. Nothing new.

I don't listen to the program very often. But Fish has his finger on the Cowboy's pulse, and he tells it like it is. His check is not signed by JJ, and I don't get this doom and gloom from what he's been telling us.

By the way Fish often appears on that program!

You completely missed the point and frankly I'm shocked it came from you dre. I don't care what "WE" think, in that I agree with you. This was to point out what the Cowboys themselves are sort of giving out. The other thread about Jerry Jones and the "up hill battle" we will be in, tips the cards even more.

I just thought it was interesting to see the rhetoric coming from the organization itself, and not what the fans are saying. Usually you don't get this in Dallas, it's all roses leading up to the season regardless of what the condition of the team is.

I'm talking about the organization, they're not putting out anything. Did you ever stop and think that just maybe they decided to stop talking as usual and let their play do the talking for them? Did you ever stop to think they're using a different approach? They've talked and rah rah for years with no results. Jerry said from day 1 he would not be talking playoffs or making any predictions. Broddaus and Mickey are in the same boat as we're in, a wait and see approach with the defense.

I'm personally getting tire of hearing how bad our defense is/will be. The rest of the league could care less. We still have to show up for 16 games and we are what we are. But lets talk about the best ways to help the D. IMO the best way to do that  is the less it's on the field the better. In other words opposing offenses can't do sheet from the sideline. Minimize their chances against our fragile D controlling the time of possession in every game and capping on EVERY turnover.

As for Jason getting fired.......I truly think it will come down to how well or if he's able to hold this team together providing we start a down spiral of loosing games. In other words, will players continue to fight or will they quit on him like they did Wade.

I don't buy that because a tiger doesn't change it's stripes. I think if this team was in the condition that Seattle is in, Jerry Jones would be prancing up and down like a peacock talking SB all day long.

I guess it doesn't bother me because I'm more concerned with truth than perception. If the defense is bad, it's bad. I don't care if people point it out. Now of course you are right, we don't know what we will get but at the same time I also think that there is lagit concern in Dallas and that's all I'm pointing out.

Funny how you just ignore the fact, that the guy who runs this site doesn't agree with your interpretation of what you thought you heard?

Well to call it an interpretation is kind of a stretch. I am just observing the language being used in talking cowboys and thought I would point it out since it is dramatically different than what I'm used to on the show.

It's ok to critique the team hawk, you will get over it. I think it's important to be positive, but also realistic. I'm not saying I know what will happen, because if you know me I never make predictions. I just don't see this defense as very good, and guess what...I'm not alone.

Really? If you've paid attention to Garrett you'd know that he's never been one to talk boisterous talk, if you paid attention it seems as if Jerry has changed his stripes, I believe it's because of Garrett. Garrett is low key and takes a low key approach, Jerry seems to be following it. If anybody was like Seattle, they would be boisterous. How can he prance after being disappointed 3 straight years? At some point you lay low until you have something to prance about.

Oh I agree here, I 'm only saying we still have to strapping up for 16 games and in most games we can win the offensive and special team battles ( Bailey ).  There will be some ugly games, no doubt but as I have said in many threads, as long as we beat the Redskins and Giants within the first eight games, we can be 2-6 at that point and STILL WIN THE DIVISION.

Well Dre that's great if I was talking about Garrett, but I'm not. I specifically brought up the guys on Talking Cowboys. Let's not get away from the topic.

Even those guys have to take a wait and see approach, nobody has seen this full defense at work, not even them ,to know what is going on. The practices has been closed to the media.

Re: The Cowboys know how bad the defense will be

LOL I'm not in a funk, I'm just a realist and try to evaluate things with evidence. I hope this defense improves, I think it could if certain things go right for us, but I'm very concerned about certain positions and I don't know how things will get better.

For example, who is going to play MLB for us? McClain was this savior, but he's taken a bit of a step back lately. Where will the pass rush come from?

I think these are lagit questions and not just depression or being negative.
