I can't imagine ANY situation I would ever want the Cowboys intentionally lose games........so for me 8-8

they won't be intentionally losing. They would end up 1-15 due to poor performance.

Jameis, Dez, T Will, Tyron, Frederick, and Martin. Hell of a young foundation to build on. Plus you add young role players with potential like Beasley, Street, and Escobar. Cowboys offense will be set for the next decade. Just find a younger more durable RB.

8-8.... F losing.  Season is too short, I want to enjoy the games & be competitive as possible.   Losing and getting a top pick in the draft doesn't guarantee anything.

I can see it if it is like 1989 where you could see a complete and total rebuild of not only the roster but just about everything else. If that is the case I might prefer it.

Why do people think that all the Cowboys need is a higher draft position to magically turn back into winners?

This isn't 1989. The rules have changed since then, and Jimmy is no longer making decisions. Stop rooting for failure out of some misguided sense of loyalty.

Why do we even entertain these types of hypotheticals. There's no way this team is going 1-15. I like Winston as a guy to develop for a year or two, but we won't get to touch him.

LOL. At the 8-8 voters. Anything is better than 8-8 at this point.

Tanking only makes sense in the NBA where the draft is very shallow and a great pick changes 1/5th of your starting lineup.

The previous two champions Seahawks and Ravens were perennial 7-9/8-8/9-7 squads for five years in a row before breaking through in 2012.

I didn't say anything about tanking. Just hypothetically would you prefer 1-15 or 8-8?

rolleyes

There are only 2 reasons anyone would prefer 1-15:

1. They hate the Cowboys, or
2. They think "tanking" will magically turn the Cowboys back into winners.

Yup.

At least when you're 8-8, there's still games of consequence in December.  1-15 sucks... and really, it's not just about building through the draft anymore, because NFL player-acquisition options have increased greatly since the days of Jimmy Johnson.  Now, it's also about periodically clearing your cap-debt, so you can over-invest when the time is right... and since we're perpetually banging our heads against the cap-ceiling, that ain't gonna happen.

DICE IS GOD
