Perception> Reality.

At this point, there's no point in arguing against those who believe he's a choker.

Until Romo wins a ring the critics will crucify him. If he wins a ring, they will show these stats and say he is one of the best ever. Go figure. I would love to see him win one ring so it can all be put to rest.

Romo has problems with the pass rush up the middle and has thrown a large number of interceptions at crucial moments.  You can parse statistics any way you want but if you see it happen often enough you believe in it.

And sometimes you see things a few times and in your mind( speaking rhetorically)
It becomes an all the time occurrence.
You can do 100 positive things and 10 negative and people will most remember you for the 10.
As others have pointed out. Until, unless he wins it all he will forever be remembered for the few screw ups.
Bobbled snap. Interceptions in a couple of key games. And not for all the great plays he made which helped get them to that point in the first place. And the great plays have far out weighed the bad ones

Oh. And cue Starfan in 3.2.1.......

Nope. Still wrong, honestly. Tony winning it all won't stop a damn thing. Not a single damn thing.

Peyton Manning, with all this statistical prowess and his Super Bowl ring is still mocked as a choker.

LeBron James wins TWO championships and he's still a choker because he didn't win all FIVE he played in.

People would rather ignore any evidence to the contrary of their belief and sad little talking points. The ridiculousness of it all is that for Romo haters, I have yet to hear an original critique or an original insult of him. Every time I hear someone talking him down, they're parroting something they heard on ESPN or NFL Network that suit their fancy. The same people that dangle on an ex-players every word will dismiss ex-player when they come to Romo's defense.

At some point, you just chuckle and shrug. People that want to hate Romo, people that try to frame him as a bad person, they have something else going on. Some other issue. Let them have it.

Ever seen Brady with a rush up the gut? Manning? Wilson? Kaepernick?

Disruption in a QBs face is, like, the keystone of great defenses. Incredibly difficult to step into a throw when you have rushers clouding your passing lanes and taking real estate away from you.

I'm not sure why any of you waste your time with them. You're all grown adults. When someone makes that comment to me.. I just immediately identify them with the group of people in my memory I refer to as "dumbass". Seriously, you're not going to change their mind. They don't care what you have to say, what statistics you show them or proof. To them it's not about proof. They will just troll for life because all they do is watch ESPN and crack jokes with their dumbass friends that watch ESPN all day, too.

It's a life circle jerk. Just avoid it. I'd rather pick my nose than argue with a dumbass.

Re: Shutting up the romo chokes idiots

Is Romo a choker?  Is Monica Lewinski a gulper?

Maybe no more than anyone else, maybe not... but when the most famous gulping / choking moments in history have your tooth marks on it, the label is gonna stick.

But Tony has it MUCH better than Monica.  He still has a chance to redeem himself: Just one Super Bowl victory & he'll ALWAYS be a winner.  (Monica, on the other hand, will always take it on the chin.  Her reputation is forever stained, and I get spitting mad just thinking about it.  She could be a total prude from here on out, and she'll ALWAYS be known as a gulper.  Poor kid.  Personally, I find it hard to swallow.)

That is all.  Class dismissed.

DICE IS GOD

Re: Shutting up the romo chokes idiots

From people I've talked or listen to, it's NOT the elimination GAME. It's Game Wining Drives........in other words, in stats in most of these games are good enough for a win but a lot these games come down to the team scoring last, which usually means TD or FG. It's kinda like trusting Michael Jordan or Larry Bird to make a wining basket with two seconds on the clock. That's pressure and right or wrong, like it or not but it's the game winning drives in so-called elimination games that Romo critics are talking about.

How many times did Tony have the games won only to watch the defense give it away and forcing Tony to do it again with very little time. Figure out that stat and you'll find this isn't just all Tony.

Re: Shutting up the romo chokes idiots

Possibly.  But that doesn't erase the long list of games where Romo came undone at crucial moments.  And these weren't the garden variety CB jumps the route, receiver loses the ball off his hands, these were "did I just see that" throws which were hard to explain.

Re: Shutting up the romo chokes idiots

Given a choice between being rushed or not, QB's all do better without pressure.  It's just in Romo's case he has managed to make some really odd decisions at inopportune times.  And why pressure up the middle is worse for Romo is he is 6'2" and appears, on many of his worst throws, not to have an awareness of where the defenders were.  You will notice I didn't say he was a bad QB, just that his history suggests he is prone to bad decision making at critical moments.  If it hadn't happened again and again there wouldn't be this controversy around Romo, or at least not to this extent.

Re: Shutting up the romo chokes idiots

Well, some QB's take the sack.  Some throw the ball away.  Others try to force a play by throwing where they don't have a clear line of sight.  Romo is a talented QB and has done a lot of really good things.  But this criticism doesn't exist out of context.  He has, on occasion, made plays which raise these questions.  It was the reason Parcells stuck with Bledsoe so long and why Romo was close to getting cut in training camp early on.

Re: Shutting up the romo chokes idiots

Doesn't matter... unless Cowboys go 16-0 and win Super Bowl, whatever game the Cowboys lose will somehow be Romo's fault.  Obviously we have such a great running game & defense the only way we ever lose is because Romo chocked  rolleyes
