Whats your opinion on NFC East

Whats your opinion on NFC East

As far as offense goes, everyone brags about Chip Kelly and the points the Birds put up last yr, yet they only scored what? 3 more points than us? No team in this division had a defense that was worth a crap. What have any of these teams done to get better? Skins adding DJ makes them better, the Giants added some veterans who never lived up to the hype. If healthy, Dallas must be front runner for the division. Had we had Romo in the last game we wouldve won the division. We stayed in that game til the end with a qb who has been mediocre at best his entire career. This division is weak and ripe for the picking

Don't see a big change from last year, we were one Romo injury away from winning the division.

Lee being out hurts bad but at least they have time to prepare, no reason Dallas shouldn't compete for division.

Re: Whats your opinion on NFC East

Regardless of the reasons, Philthy is the frontrunner and I have no issues with others predicting that they'll repeat as NFCE champs.  I do expect the Giants to be much improved - last year was an aberration for a Coughlin-coached team.  Don't expect Philthy to get as many breaks this season, namely with avoiding the injury bug like last season.  'skins - who knows?  There always tough but usually find a way to beat themselves.

I will be disappointed if both our defense and offense (TOP-wise; we were good in points) are not improved this season.  Hopeful that our ST is as good as last season.  If so, we should be right there for a playoff spot again.

Yep, the Lee situation hurts. But I think one can argue that the LB corps was much thinner last season when it lost Lee than this situation. And the defensive line being in such shambles made that stand out even worse. Not to say that losing Lee won't hurt, but I don't think it spells doom like it did last season.

Good posts from everyone so far... I have a feeling that, this season will come down to whichever team's starting QB out perform the others. Whoever does it, wins the east...and like our chances cause of it.

I haven't followed the other teams enough to comment on them.

For the Cowboys,  its going to depend on how the D line gels.

Offense is set, just the defensive front seven will be the factor on if the Cowboys win the NFC east.

Re: Whats your opinion on NFC East

i think its gonna come down to the better defenses, ..QB play.. and the team that minimizes their turnovers.

1) Philly:
Defense will be a huge key for them a well- its' still a weakness , but having a elite back like McCoy and an emerging QB in Nick Foles really help allivate their level of play. howeve i do think they lose a lot with DeSean's departure and there's unknown with return of Macklin (knee) i stll give them the front run ... for now.

2) NYG:
i just don't hear from NYG run anymore, and Eli has been pathetic last 2 years, - they simply cannot compete with him at that level -  questions concern the OL, and they will have to make life without Nicks - how healthy will their defense be ?

3) Dallas:  all focus on the D"  that will need significant improvement (worst in NFL) and the loss of Ware, Lee and Hatcher doesn't start to solve it. what becomes of the pass rush/coverage. Complete wait and see approach.
offense should move ball, score points - extra bonus if run game is healthy/committed to, but will it be enough to overcome the other big issues ?

4) Washington - all focus on health of RG3, and the situation of the defense, which i really don't expect a lot from returning DC Jim Haslett. Addition of gamebreaker Desean Jackson to add with Garcon and RB Alfred Morris should make offense more formidable.

Re: Whats your opinion on NFC East

Pure toss up.

The Giants can take it back if, and only if, their new offensive system catches on and a lot of breaks go their way on defense as I see they added a lot of bodies, but did not really get the DL they needed to replenish what they lost with Tuck leaving.

The Eagles?  Not all that impressed.  Looks like they stayed the same and might even be weaker.  They let two good WRs go and will need Matthews/Huff to step up in big ways to replace the skills lost.  I don't see where they got better on defense either.

Washington?  Eh.  New head coach that might end up misusing Griffin and a suspect D, still.

Dallas is pretty fortunate as nobody in the division made a move to really pull away from the rest of the pack.  No reason not to be in the thick of things if Romo is okay and the DL improves.

Well gosh darn it.  Looks like the Eagles will start the year off without their stud RT.

Breaks my heart.

Re: Whats your opinion on NFC East

It has gone from NFC BEast to NFC LEast in the last few years.

Whilst the comptetition within the division will be interesting, I dont see whoever wins the division going particularly deep into the playoffs.  one and done seems more likley.

The Eagles are the media darlings at the moment, but the loss of 2 Wrs and now their RT will put Chip Kelly's offence to the test.  i also suspect that a year into the scheme opposing defenses may start finding the weaknesses having had time to view the film.

The Giants OL is a problem, and Eli is now finding out what its been like to be Tony Romo for the last 4 years.  Its scary isn't it Eli!  the result was a bunch of mistakes and plenty of double teapot poses from Coughlin.  I loved that!  That defence got old and isnt as dominant either.  I see the Giants in transition for at least another year.

The (insert non racial slur name team from Washington) are hugely dependent on RG3's knee.  If he is now 100% and back to the level of mobility he had in his rookie year, then that offence could cause problems.  But its another new head coach and that defense isnt great.

And then there is us - another team in transition.  Dont get me wrong, I actually like what the front office has done this spring - we got older and cheaper.  But we're not there yet, and I'm still expecting a few cariac Cowboy moments along the way.  The opening month's schedule looks pretty bad too.

I think this will be a very close division yet again, but thats because all the teams have uite glaring weaknesses rather than all the teams being good.  All the QBs have qeustion marks, either health or consitancy (or both), none of the defences is what you would call scary.  It could be fuin to watch - as long as you dont actually support one of the teams as I expect we will be pulling our hair out!

Re: Whats your opinion on NFC East

This is a great thread with great posts... I'll come back with another my own saying; I just still believe this thing comes down to Whichever QB(Eli,Foles,RG3,Romo) plays the best and, stay healthy mind you, will win the east. I love our chances with #9 & #88.
