Daniels says he did all his own work ------- CBS

He is pissed that his name is being dragged thru the mud. Has Jenkins made a "Rush to Judgment here?"

Sounds like he wants to see the evidence.

Jenkins didn't bring his name up.

Tons of things could have happened.

Daniels could have submitted a 1 page report for edits that after a good pounding came back as a 5 page paper.

Something Daniels wrote last year could have been given to KVR by the tutor this year.

They all could have taken the same class and had a study group with the tutor and somehow they all came up with the same paragraph word for word.

Papers they actually wrote could have popped up at another University and ND could have been notified by a plagiarism checker.

Daniels could also be lying.  Remember Lance Armstrong denied doing Roids for years and a ton of people believed him as well.

His father tweeted again, also indicating innocence. To paraphrase, he warned athletes not to trust/use the school's email even if you are doing things right.

I'm glad they stressed that they've not concluded anything on the players yet, as it sounds like there's a chance here Davaris is connected but not actually at fault.

Based on the tweet, I'm guessing perhaps some work/a paper was passed between people and ND caught it or is using as evidence email records.

Sub is correct many things could have happened.

Work in a University hospital at three am; the are emails flying all over the world. The docs who are not up to their elbows in blood all meet at 2AM and discuss all the very sick people in the hospital.

We call it group learning. Is it cheating for a doc in Pittsburgh to email one in Texas to discuss how to handle a rattle snake bite ?

Recently, I conversed off and for two days discussing the best treatment for Typhoid fever with the CDC in Atlanta,Emails are part of group learning.

Another possibility is misinformation to move the Vegas odds or just to make ND look bad in recruiting a player.

I am logical that Fr. Jenkins made this decision. Daniels and his dad say he did his own work. In my mind the man is innocent until proven guilty.

One question is, if the 4 players are proven innocent, will they even want to be at ND?

Did Swarbrick mention his name as long with the other 3 last night at the press conference?

I think what his dad meant was "my son had a paper emailed to him that was used...."

Got caught.

Or not

if this whole thing is from 2012, daniels should be fine since he was academically ineligible from the spring semester after this. so, i highly doubt that someone could fail academically and still cheat. maybe this is still just a rollover of the golson situation

I hadn't thought of any of this. Maybe they were all proofreading each other's papers and just forgot and turned them in. Or maybe they were just testing whether the professors were actually reading the papers by writing an introduction and conclusion and then copy pasting some unrelated stuff off the internet. And it didn't come to light until now because the profs weren't actually reading the papers.
Proudly repping #5 Golson

Need to find out who took this crap public with names of innocents...any media reps need to take responsibility for any mistakes (major money) and his/her job. In the past real journalists required two unrelated sources substantiated. Unfortunately, today there is no such thing as a journalist.

Innocent until proven guilty is for the courts.  The Notre Dame reslife committee is guilty until proven innocent and then screw you anyhow.  If it has gotten this far its not going to be good for any of the players regardless of what comes out of it.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention to res life matters since the new powers that be have taken over.

you do realize Ishaq, Daniels, KVR, and Moore weren't allowed to practice on Friday.

Thats how the names got out its not rocket science.

ND announces its investigating an academic scandal and kids from the football team are being investigated.

Innocent until proven guilty only applies to the court of law.

Correction: Innocent until proven guilty only applies to a criminal court of law. In civil matters, the defendant is assumed to be guilty and must prove its innocence.

The point I was trying to make is that Reslife operates under a completely different set of rules. If the rumors hold up and the players are reinstated I'm happy for them. I, as well as friends of mine, were "lucky" enough to go through a reslife hearing and its complete and utter BS. The point I was trying to make is that in a majority of the cases that get reviewed by reslife are not done with the same standards as a legitimate court of law. If you appear before Reslife its because your *** is on the line and regardless of the evidence you are not walking away without consequence.

Quibble: IANAL but I don't believe this is true.  I believe the distinction you're looking for is that, in civil matters, a simple preponderance of the evidence (51% likelihood of guilt) is sufficient for establishing guilt.  That's not that same as assuming guilt up front.
