CJ Sanders

CJ Sanders

Has the lead for highest overall SPARQ rating at The Opening so far. Ran a 4.32 40 yard dash. Speed kills, no matter which side of the ball it's on.

5'10" 180 (or so) lb WR. Committed to ND. His listed 40 time was 4.45. This kid is blazing fast. Can't wait to see him in this offense.

Re: CJ Sanders

This biggest challenge now will be getting him to sign in February. After this performance he will surely rise in the rankings and some other big time programs will definitely start recruiting him hard. I just hope he stays Irish!!

Is it  safe to say he has blinding speed?

I'm curious where you read this.  I did my own searching and saw he ran a 4.53 at another camp, but if he ran a (presumably electronic timed) 4.32 once, he can do it again.

Isn't it great?  We might have landed the next Matt Shelton!

But seriously, nobody here said three-stars can't become All-Pros or CFB Hall of Famers.  All that's just in the imagination of some readers with poor comprehension.

What I like most about the discrepancy in forty times is it reminds me of Ismail.  In modern terms I'm not sure if he would have been a three- or four-star, but I believe I recall at least one publication listing him as a 4.55 guy.

The times at the Opening always seem to be a unbelievable. Whether the numbers are inflated or not, still good enough for top 10 SPARQ score at the Opening.

Re: CJ Sanders

They can't be compared to times from the combine, which have a slightly different timing method and are run on a very slow Indy field. There were more like 15 kids who went sub-4.4 at the Opening (out of 150 invitees), there were 7 at the 2014 NFL combine (out of 300+ invitees).

Re: CJ Sanders

I think he Is 3rd In the SPARQ challenge right now.  He will be competing tonight on ESPN at 8ET/7CT In the SPARQ finals.  He will be going up against guys committed to Alabama and Oregon.  Speaks volumes of the direction this team Is trying to go with certain positions.  He wont be a 3 star for long.  Besides, nobody said 3 stars cant make It to the NFL or be All Americans.  Its just more likely that those accomplishments come from 4 and 5 star guys.  Nobody should be paying a lot of attentions to rankings right now as this class hasnt even started their senior season.  Remember what happened last year to Luatua?  He was consensus top 3 TE on every site.  Then after his season began he started to drop and other guys rose to where they ended up.

Yea you just have to look at it relative to his peers at the Opening.

Lumbergh, you don't understand. This recruiting class is awful bcause we have all these three star guys that can't play a lick. It doesn't matter if they haven't received their final evaluations. It doesn't matter if they have been misevaluated by the people that have no vested interest in correctly evaluating them. I doesn't matter if BK consistently identifies under the radar recruits and gets to them before they blow up.

I'm sure CJ fell on his face right after he ran 40 yards because we know that 3*s just won't get the job done. After all, he is a three star and we at ND turn up our nose at "those type of players".

Re: CJ Sanders

There is only one reason Sanders is a 3*: size. His offer sheet is second to none.

I don't know who you think you're mocking or mimicking, but I still think there's an issue here with reading comprehension.

Re: CJ Sanders

With the money that Nike spends on this event & the events leading up to it, 1 would think the equipment used would be world/olympic class. so the times run would/should be considered legit.
Could 1 possible reason some times are lower than expected be that they are running on a top of the line world class "fast track"?

Re: CJ Sanders

CJ just ran his shuttle and Is only one of 3 guys to clock In under 4 seconds.  He ran a 3.88, only Bama committ Minkah or whatever his name Is has ran faster with a 3.87.

With his second run he clocked In at 3.90.
