The fact that Hoke has beaten ND two of three is probably the only reason he isn't on the hot seat. With their O-line play so poor last year and probably as poor this year, I can't see them with more than 7 wins by seasons end. They will beat App St. by a touchdown, lose to the Irish, and then lose four more in conference. They will finish the year with another bowl disaster similar to last year.I pray they keep Hoke for a few more years.

It may be a bit harder to lose Rose Bowls in this setup. It won't happen the years Pasadena hosts a playoff. In the off years they have to lose to Ohio State, have the Bucks win the BUGCG and go to the playoff, and have any plausible claim to 2nd or 3rd best. That's basically the same as the BCS era of 1. Lose to OSU. 2. Finish 2nd in an 11 team conference. 3. Take the Rose when OSU gets sucked into the BCSCG.I can't imagine that the Rose berth would ever go to Nebraska, Iowa or Wiscy unless they had two more total wins than UM. And it probably never goes to the BUGCG loser unless they finished 12-1.

The record vs OSU matters a lot for pride reasons, but the record vs MSU matters much more for practical reasons. Once UM becomes a second-rate program in-state, not only on the field, but in recruiting, it could have severe repercussions. They might never get back to who they used to be, and if they do, it might take decades.mokpra37 wrote:...(Hoke) isn't on the hot seat...
