UM's home football schedule

I feel bad for their season ticket holders

App St
Miami (OH)
Utah
Minnesota
PSU
Indiana
Maryland

Yikes. Outside of PSU, not very many games to get excited about.

The PSU game is only exciting because of the name. I have a feeling they're going to be bad this year.

Mich also raised ticket prices this year. People are not happy.

If things go poorly for them this year, Brady Hoke and Dave Brandon may be looking for a new job.

The basketball team up there is an unqualified success, but Brandon didn't hire Beilein.

At least we know we get Southern Cal or Stanford at home every year. Plus with the ACC schedule we have some interesting new opponents.

The first three? lmao
That first one is a lock.  Hoke might not make it past that one...

I don't even find the name worthy of excitement.

Utah is probably the best of the bunch, and that's sad.

Yikes.  I'd choose one game to go to on that schedule and just sell the rest at face value.  The only thing that gets you as a STH is the ability to renew next year.  Although, I could never be a  Michigan fan.  It'd be Michigan State for me if I was unfortunate to grow up there.

You all are wrong.  Being in a conference and having the same, wonderful, and familiar teams coming to your stadium every year is the BEST.  And don't forget how near and dear Appy St is to scUM devil

And it's still better than the year they played their entire regular season in three states, 2011.

8 home games that year...that was one poopy schedule from a difficulty standpoint. Our schedule was also not the best.

Michigan had one of their worst o-lines ever last year, then lost first and third round picks.

As for App. St....

Re: UM's home football schedule

The fact that Hoke has beaten ND two of three is probably the only reason he isn't on the hot seat.  With their O-line play so poor last year and probably as poor this year, I can't see them with more than 7 wins by seasons end.  They will beat App St. by a touchdown, lose to the Irish, and then lose four more in conference.  They will finish the year with another bowl disaster similar to last year.

I pray they keep Hoke for a few more years.

Re: UM's home football schedule

Last year, I agreed with this, but you can only lose to both MSU and OSU so many times.

Hoke is actually only 1-2 against both, which is a small sample size and not too bad, but this year it could very well go to 1-3 and 1-3, and over a longer stretch this would but UM at 1-6 vs MSU and 1-10 vs OSU.

These things matter to Michigan, and they should.  The record vs OSU matters a lot for pride reasons, but the record vs MSU matters much more for practical reasons.  Once UM becomes a second-rate program in-state, not only on the field, but in recruiting, it could have severe repercussions.  They might never get back to who they used to be, and if they do, it might take decades.

Re: UM's home football schedule

It may be a bit harder to lose Rose Bowls in this setup.  It won't happen the years Pasadena hosts a playoff. In the off years they have to lose to Ohio State, have the Bucks win the BUGCG and go to the playoff, and have any plausible claim to 2nd or 3rd best.

That's basically the same as the BCS era of

1.  Lose to OSU.
2. Finish 2nd in an 11 team conference.
3. Take the Rose when OSU gets sucked into the BCSCG.

I can't imagine that the Rose berth would ever go to Nebraska, Iowa or Wiscy unless they had two more total wins than UM.  And it probably never goes to the BUGCG loser unless they finished 12-1.
