2015 Class filling up quickly

With the commitments of Nick Coleman and Dew-Treadway, ND is now up to 11 commits in the class. Throw in Elijah Taylor who is apparently a silent commit at this point and Shaun Crawford who is basically a done deal to ND and you have 13 commits.

Here is how the class breaks down right now:

WR
***CJ Sanders
***Jalen Guyton

OL
****Jerry Tillery
****Tristen Hoge
***Trevor Ruhland

DL
****Elijah Taylor
***Micah Dew-Treadway
***Brandon Tiassum

LB
****Josh Barajas

CB
****Shaun Crawford
***Nick Coleman

S
***Prentice McKinney
***Nico Fertitta

I'm guessing this class will have anywhere from 19-23 commits, but with only 6-10 spots left in the class, there are some BIG holes to fill. ND needs to add 1-2 more impact LBs and 2 impact DEs. They also need to add a RB to this class and a QB. 1 big-time WR and 2 more DBs are needed as well.

Here are some guys ND could add to fill out the class:

QB: Waller or bust?
RB: Soso Jamabo or Ty'Son Williams
WR: St. Brown, Ofodile, Boykin
DT: Darvin Taylor, Neville Gallimore
DE: Lucier-South, Cornell, Dremont Jones
LB: Bilal, Hilliard, Tevon Conney
CB: Reid, Marshall
K: Yoon

2-3 LB: Bilal, Conney, Hilliard, and the other FL LB who was just on campus.

1 CB: Reid

That gives us a 22 man class.

Boykin's family are huge Michigan fans FWIW.

The most important aspect of this class is now the coaching staff has the leverage on the rest of the recruits. Plus, nobody is better than BK & Co in getting to players before they blow up. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they added 2-3 players that aren't on our radar right now because they are greatly underrated.

No hope for Broadus (Snoop's son) at WR? There was mutual interest in the past.

Waller or bust, I thought they were pursuing TT's Stidham?

Waller and St. Brown- package deal?

Re: 2015 Class filling up quickly

With Boykin, I think ND wants him more as a joker TE than a WR. Michigan and MSU want him as a WR, which he prefers.

I would rather have St Brown or Ofodile than Boykin anyways. ND is in good position with both.

But it would be nice to have a swing player that could play TE if need be being it doesn't look like ND will be taking one this year.

Not sure of the need. Beyond Koyack, they have 4 other TE's with 4 years of eligibility each. Seems likely that Weishar and Luatua will sit out this season for development (not because one of them is lazy).

I have also read that BK may use an OT (McGlinchey?) as a blocking TE this season.

Re: 2015 Class filling up quickly

You never know how players might develop. It's usually a good policy to at least have the option of having one in every class given how much ND relies on the position.

If I'm Boykin, I embrace the hybrid role. It will get him onto the field faster and in more formations. It would also allow the coaching staff to always find him a mismatch. He would be a monster in the redzone.

1.  I wouldnt count those chickens before they hatch buddy.  If they truly wanted to be committed to ND they would do It publicly.  I do not buy the whole silent commitment thing at all.

2.  We just offered 4 QBs In a single day last week.  I wouldnt say we are Waller or bust.  Waller may be our best shot at getting a QB worth anything In this class though.  Torrence Gibson Is absolutely not coming to ND.  I believe the McKenzie ordeal and Michel spurring NDs interest last year will take us out of the game for anyone coming from Heritage.  And before someone mentions the connection to Deeb.....he played on that team two years ago.  Im sure the current players on that team do not keep an active friendship with Deeb....none with D1 talent at least.

3.  We lead for Soso right now but he Is not ready to commit which means that will likely change before NSD.

4.  I think we land Yoon and we need to badly.  Brindza wont be here forever.

Re: 2015 Class filling up quickly

There Is always hope for ND when a famous person has a kid who plays sports.  But, unless they went to ND themselves (sometimes that doesnt even help), that charm wears off quickly.  Trust me, Snoops son was never coming to ND.  There Is nothing In ND that Is appealing to the son of Snoop Dogg, or Snoop Lion as he prefers to be called now....think about It.

Waller Is our best shot but he Is not the only one we are going after.

Neither one of them has said Its a package deal.  I dont expect It to be either.  Even when kids say they are going to be a package deal they rarely follow through with It.

Good point.  It would also showcase his talents at two different positions for the NFL.  Its never really a bad idea to cast as wide a net as you can.

Re: 2015 Class filling up quickly

A lot of you aren't going to like to hear this, but ND is making sure they get a full class this time and I guarantee if it's full and a stud wants to jump aboard someone in the class will have to find a new school. There will also be some decommits, transfers, and/or hardship waivers.

I think the staff is tired of waiting until the end only to be left at the altar. Plus, as Dosch has pointed out the summer eval period might deliver some rankings changes. It's at least partially an SEC recruiting strategy and also Diaco isn't around to nix a guy because he doesn't fit a profile.

1. I do not get the silent commit theory either, it only makes sense near the last couple weeks before NSD for an Urbie FU over poach.

2. Who were the other QB's besides Waller and Sitdham? Are they current verbals with other schools?

3. I am confident BK will land a 4 star RB just based on odds (7 possibilities on Scout are 4 stars, while there are just 3-3 stars).

4. Brindza not here forever. That is a captain obvious statement, he has one year left. I am sure they will find a kicker. Apparently the only current option is Yoon?

1. My understanding with the silent commit is they want time to let other coaches know that they have committed. They dont want other coaches that they have built relationships with the find out through the media before they are able to tell them.

2. Francois. Hes a good player too but would be a tough pull. Until Stidham actually decides to visit ND, I think hes a longshot.

3. Yea, they'll grab 1 good RB

4. Yoon is the only offer at this point, #2 K in the class

Re: 2015 Class filling up quickly

1.  Dude, If you ever figure out the silent commit thing you must fill me In.  I get how It could screw the team your committed to over.  But, I cant figure out how It could really benefit that team.  The only scenario I can think of Is If for example two RBs have a school as their #1.  RB A Is a 5 star stud and RB B Is a high 3 to low 4 star players.  The staff wants both for depth but doesnt want RB A scaring off RB B.

2.  Torrence Gibson Is one of them.  Waller and Stidham were the other two.  I cannot remember for the life of me the fouth offer that went out.   We can kiss Torrence Gibson goodbye though.  Id wear high heels In public If he committed to ND.

3.  I dunno bout this year man.  It all depends on how Bryant and Folston produce.  If they produce like we all think they will then we will have no problems.  An incoming Fr. would realize those guys will be gone after their Jr. years to the NFL and the show will be all theirs to run.  However, If they are mediocre at best then that doesnt do much for us.  With the o line Kelly and Co. has put together Bryant and Folston should be running like wild Mustangs this year and next.

4.  I know I can be Captain Obvious at times....ok a lot of the time.  lol   We did pick up Newsome last year.  But, I dont think he was a multi-purpose kicker like we have In Brindza.  In fact I believe he Is just going to be a punter.   Even If he was like Brindza he would be the lone kicker on our roster and having to do everything by himself as a So.  Its crazy how we went from having too many kickers to really only one.  As far as I know, Yoon Is the only guy we are going after at kicker, or that at least has an offer.  I think Yoon Is a pretty solid bet to ND though.

I wondered this as well.  After checking a few sites I havent seen anywhere where he Is listed or talked about as a jack of all trades kicker.  It looks like he will just be a punter.
