RE: Final thoughts on the Manti Teo thing...
I've followed the story thoroughly, and I don't see what he did wrong. He had to cover up the story after he found out in december, even though he still spoke of his gf's death for a few reasons:
A) - he himself wasn't quite sure to make of that december 6th phone call, he said on Katie that he truly knew the truth when the story broke on January 15.
B) - there is no way he could have told the media prior to the NCG.... could you imagine all the media, way more than usual, leading up to the game? Holy cow, it would be insane. The team needed to focus and prepare, and even though we couldn't compete with Bama, i'd hate to know the score of that game if the news broke before the game
C) - pretty obvious one, but he was too embarrassed to admit he was in an online relationship and that the women bailed on meeting him many times, I mean, how would you tell your parents? So he lied to his parents... Also, how the h.e.l.l was he supposed to know that this "women" would die and prompt one of the biggest stories in sports in 2012.
D) - People seem to think they were dating for years and years and years.... No, it was on-again off-again communication that started into something more later on. Now, as I heard, "who the hell is stupid enough to never meet the girl and call her your girlfriend and yet never even see her face?"... well, sometimes when you start to build a connection with someone, and you believe it is one of the best connections of your life, you tend to forget the negativity and focus more on the positives. Plus, come on, the person on the phone REALLY sounded like a girl!
IMO, and in my point of view, he is a little naive and gullible, but so is 95% of the population! Maybe if he had told his dad all those months ago "hey dad, i've never met lennay" then this story would be soooo different

at the very least, he got "punked". I give him the benefit of the doubt on the rest. CanadalovesND wrote: I've followed the story thoroughly, and I don't see what he did wrong. 1) R.T. punk'd M.T. 2) M.T. punk'd the U.S. of A. That is all. BAirish wrote: at the very least, he got "punked". I give him the benefit of the doubt on the rest.
