RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers
riddick was a good returner that year, as i recall. his speed was the reason that weis gave for having had him play his freshman year (even though he didn't have wood play), and he played a good deal. i remember thinking that he was quite fast. i don't think that he's lost a lot of speed, but i wouldn't be surprised if he's lost at least a little. i also wouldn't be surprised if he ran a sub-4.5 40. i'd be a little surprised if wood ran a faster time. That was hyperbole thrown out by Weis before Nevada. Go watch ND-Navy in '11, Theo takes a screen down the sideline and was easily run down from behind by a Navy DB. Or against BYU on his 55 yard run. One of BYUs linebackers ran him down from behind and was there to make the tackle if the CB didn't. Theo isn't fast. --------------------------------------------- --- shaunzo wrote: this looks absolutely crazy to me. theo was the fastest guy on the team his freshman year, i believe. grapie wrote: Predictions for 40 times:

RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers
you realize that 2011 is two years after 2009, yes? anyway, i can't say that i know specifically of these cases that you're talking about, but there are times when people get run down from behind, but not exactly behind, and the angle is very helpful to the defender (think mike ragone running that guy down from way down the field- do you really think that mike ragone has cb speed, or?...). maybe this isn't the case, here, but i certainly wouldn't argue that theo "isn't fast," just like i wouldn't argue that theo is fast. i think that he's fast enough, and maybe faster than people on this board seem to think. if i had to guess, i'd say that he's faster than cierre, but i could be wrong. everyone on this board last year predicted that floyd would run in the high 4.5s or 4.6s, as i recall. he didn't. theo isn't slow. knuckleheadzoo wrote: That was hyperbole thrown out by Weis before Nevada. That's interesting, I thought my Cierre time would draw flack for being too fast. --------------------------------------------- --- shaunzo wrote: this looks absolutely crazy to me. theo was the fastest guy on the team his freshman year, i believe. grapie wrote: Predictions for 40 times:

i would go like this: eifert - 4.57 wood - 4.51 riddick - 4.48 i actually expect wood and theo to do about the same in agility drills, but theo to do better in strength drills. grapie wrote: That's interesting, I thought my Cierre time would draw flack for being too fast.

I have the exact same feeling. I would be real surprised if Theo posted a better time then Wood. Theo never looked 'fast' to me. He's not slow by any means, but he's no burner. Very, very quick and agile though. --------------------------------------------- --- DEGorilla wrote: shaunzo wrote: i would go like this:

RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers
You do realize players are supposed to get faster as time goes on in college, right? And yeah, you're right. Players can get run down via angles. But if you, oh I don't know, actually watched those plays, you'd see it wasn't a matter of angles. No one said he is slow, but he is not fast. The number of players who actually run sub 4.5 is few and far between. You obviously dont know how fast that is. LaMichael James clocked 4.4, GAIII clocked 4.4, you think theo is as fast as them? If so, you're drunk. Players who run in the 4.4s don't get run down from behind behind by linebackers or Navy DBs. Even if they have the angle. Actually they do get run down by linebakers named jaylon Smith knuckleheadzoo wrote: You do realize players are supposed to get faster as time goes on in college, right?

i would argue that maybe arguing is always silly. anyway, maybe one of us will be amazed, no matter what. or maybe they'll get the exact same time, and then everyone will be surprised. DEGorilla wrote: shaunzo wrote: i would go like this:

RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers
okay, we were talking about how fast theo was in 2009, and you brought up 2011. are players supposed to get faster during their college years? i'm sure that some would make that argument. i think there are cases where players get slower, but actually become better players. anyway, and more to the point, do YOU think that theo got faster after his freshman year? because otherwise, what you said still makes NO sense, in the context of the conversation that was going on, up to that point. and as i said about the plays in question, i have no idea. i'm sure that i saw them, but i don't remember at all, so you may be right, as i mentioned. <3 xoxoxoxoxo i think that your point about fast players not being run down by linebackers or navy db's is fallacious; i'm sure that it does happen. you seem mad, bro. are you mad? knuckleheadzoo wrote: You do realize players are supposed to get faster as time goes on in college, right?
