Predictions for 40 times:

Eifert 4.59
Wood 4.49
Theo 4.65

I think Theo will do much better in the agility drills.

I think I remember hearing Weis say something like that, but I've never seen it.

RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers

riddick was a good returner that year, as i recall. his speed was the reason that weis gave for having had him play his freshman year (even though he didn't have wood play), and he played a good deal. i remember thinking that he was quite fast.

i don't think that he's lost a lot of speed, but i wouldn't be surprised if he's lost at least a little. i also wouldn't be surprised if he ran a sub-4.5 40. i'd be a little surprised if wood ran a faster time.

That was hyperbole thrown out by Weis before Nevada. Go watch ND-Navy in '11, Theo takes a screen down the sideline and was easily run down from behind by a Navy DB. Or against BYU on his 55 yard run. One of BYUs linebackers ran him down from behind and was there to make the tackle if the CB didn't.

Theo isn't fast.

RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers

you realize that 2011 is two years after 2009, yes?

anyway, i can't say that i know specifically of these cases that you're talking about, but there are times when people get run down from behind, but not exactly behind, and the angle is very helpful to the defender (think mike ragone running that guy down from way down the field- do you really think that mike ragone has cb speed, or?...). maybe this isn't the case, here, but i certainly wouldn't argue that theo "isn't fast," just like i wouldn't argue that theo is fast. i think that he's fast enough, and maybe faster than people on this board seem to think. if i had to guess, i'd say that he's faster than cierre, but i could be wrong.

everyone on this board last year predicted that floyd would run in the high 4.5s or 4.6s, as i recall. he didn't.

theo isn't slow.

Re: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers

I keep hearing draft experts saying Ertz is better than Eifert...smh

Eifert needs to have a strong showing with a good 40 time

Teo probably needs to have the biggest day of anyone. Everyone's last impression of Teo is negative with the Bama game and the fake girlfriend deal. He needs to prove that hes more than a 2-down thumper. Needs to run a good 40 time and have a good shuttle.

i mean, the guy just had four thousand interceptions. i don't think that'll be the knock on him, if there is any.

also, i think that eifert's a pretty fast tightend. he's gotta be faster than theo, anyway.

That's interesting, I thought my Cierre time would draw flack for being too fast.

It will be interesting to see how much progress our team has made under Longo. I remember that first year was a little embarrassing. Specifically the linemen strength.

RE: NFL Combine Invited List 8 Domers

i would go like this:

eifert - 4.57
wood - 4.51
riddick - 4.48

i actually expect wood and theo to do about the same in agility drills, but theo to do better in strength drills.

I guess it's silly to argue about it, since we'll know for certain pretty soon, but I'll be amazed if Riddick is faster than Wood.

No, that was just Taylor Dever. Had nothing to do with the lineman. Dever struggled in the bench and in the 40, however, he was top 5 when it came to lineman in the 3-cone.

I have the exact same feeling. I would be real surprised if Theo posted a better time then Wood. Theo never looked 'fast' to me. He's not slow by any means, but he's no burner. Very, very quick and agile though.

Te'o had seven interceptions btw...most by any LB since 2001 btw.

As for Theo's speed from other earlier post, it was Munir Price that CW went on and on about his speed and the "whoosh" sound he makes when he runs according to Charlie... I actually loved CW but gosh we have come a long way...  wink

Woods time will be sub 4.40, I predict 4.35, If he does he goes 2nd to 3rd rounds.
Eifert will be around 4.6
Te`o needs a 4.5,
If Riddick can get a sub 4.5 I think he jumps to around the 4th - 5th rounds
I also tend to think that Cave and Motta have a great chance to impress people and boost their draft stock.

The fact that they were invited is all you need to know about how they are advancing under Longo. Their actual combine performance will have little to do with him. They've all been training with someone else during the lead up to the combine.
