Re: Its NDs fault the Big10 sux
Living in Ohio I can assure you that there is no reasoning with the average B1G fan. They cannot comprehend the fact that we do not want to join that conference. The ACC may be a sinking ship but I think ND would be more like to join a retooled Big 12 before they joined the B1G simply because of the rules on television contracts.
Also, I'm not sure how the B1G fans can blame weather for their bad recruiting performances when ND, OSU and Michigan were all concensus top 10 classes and all 3 of those schools were able to pull southern kids up north.

It's not just the television contracts, its also that scUM and OSU rule that division with an iron fist. What they say goes. Something that most OSU fans in Columbus are proud of.. and God forbid you try to explain to a scUM fan about them blackballing us early on - "I DONT HEAR YOU LALALALALALA."

I said the ACC may be a sinking ship not that it is. The future of conference realignment is anyone's guess. It's pretty clear that the B1G and SEC aren't going anywhere and if those conferences choose to expand I think the ACC would be cherry picked.

I'd hope ND would give up football before joining those two.. (Big Ten or the SEC)
I'd find it hard to be a fan of ND if they joined one of those conferences.

conference thing & I live in MI. I have enough UofM & MSU fans (some I call my friends) around here telling me all the reasons Notre Dame needs to join the B1G. But hate on ND every chance they get.
I never met Fielding Yost, but I understand he was diffiCULT to deal with unless you agreed with him. I don't appreciate how he treated ND while he was at UofM, but he's dead by now... I think.

Re: Its NDs fault the Big10 sux
Yeah, FTR I don't care to actually see ND join a conference. If that day ever does come, though, I'd be okay with either the Big Ten or ACC. And as a fellow Michigander, I also tend to scoff at both Wolverines and my fellow Spartans who demand either that ND join the Big Ten (or another conference) or that the Big Ten ban games against ND. If anything, those games should be seen as favors by ND to them. Albi16 wrote: conference thing & I live in MI. Re: Its NDs fault the Big10 sux
YOU might be ok with it, but post after post and comment after comment prove that YOUR FANBASE (O$U and Big whatever) is NOT ok with it. I don't know what world you live in, but we have to read and hear your brethren spout off how ND needs to do this or that constantly. So basically I am saying you are wrong. Also, in case you are futher delusioned, a dozen GT and FSUs aren't worth what ND would bring to your conference. Keep dreaming if you think they would. buckeye4573 wrote:

More specifically, it makes no sense that one of your lifeboats would be the B12. B12 has LOST Nebraska, Colorado, aTm and Mizzou. Added WVU and TCU. ACC has lost only UMD and ADDED Cuse, Pitt, ND* and UofL. B12 is asking ACC for a scheduling partnership. Not the other way around. --------------------------------------------- --- ndirish951 wrote: GoldRushND wrote:

Nobody on Hineygate is currently talking about Notre Dame and haven't for quite some time. The only place I see it being discussed is here. For what it's worth, I liked adding Nebraska to get to 12 and to have a conference title game but adding Maryland, Rutgers, Notre Dame, etc. does NOTHING for me.

Re: Its NDs fault the Big10 sux
let's go ahead and stop saying "being in cold weather regions" has anything to do with the big ten stinking.
Boise State is located in an ICE BOX of a region and they are doing just fine.
Michigan and Notre Dame are just as far north as the rest of the big ten... they are doing fine.
Oregon is further north than the entire big ten... they are doing just fine.
Its coaching and the lack of involvement by the schools to create excellent venues. Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Illinois, Minnesota (even though its new) these vensues are awful.
The big ten needs to challenge the SEC and ACC teams to Home and Homes. If they wont play... then go on tv and call them pu$$ies for not accepting the games.
The SEC and ACC need to play in the north if they think they are better then the north. If they wont come north... then boycott going south.

Re: Its NDs fault the Big10 sux
I'll say it again, the future of conference realignment is anyone's guess. If the PAC expands to 16, the Mtn West, WAC and Big 12 plus BYU will be in play for those 4 slots. If the B1G and SEC expand to 16, the ACC, Big East, Big 12 and ND will be in play for those 4 slots. I can tell you with certainty that if one of them moves to 16, the other 2 will not be far behind. When the dust settles from that I think there will be a conglomeration conference made up mostly of former ACC and Big 12 members and I think that this conference will most likely be headlined by Texas and Oklahoma. unc86 wrote: More specifically, it makes no sense that one of your lifeboats would be the B12.

While the Big-10+ or any northern can't/shouldn't use cold weather as an excuse for poor play, the schools you used don't even come close to northern school winter temps. Oregon maybe further north than the entire BIG 10+, but they don't get the snow/cold that the BIG-10+ gets on a normal basis. As far as their temps go, they average between 34-38 Nov-Feb (record-12) As for Boise, compared to Madison , Wi, they are much warmer from Nov-Feb with temps ranging between 24-32 (record -25) for lows vs Madison with lows averaging 10-28 (record -38). And I would guess that Mich & Minn may get even colder.

Aye. Oregon is a tropical paradise compared to the Upper Midwest and Eugene does not have a higher latitude than all Big Ten Schools. Also South Bend is south of a number of Big Ten schools. I may have get Remmuh a nice map. C5hydro wrote:

If the PAC expands to 16, the Mtn West, WAC and Big 12 plus BYU will be in play for those 4 slots. A couple of observations: 1. The Pac-whatever will never invite BYU. ND will join the B1G before BYU gets in the Pac-12. Barring a Road to Damascus type conversion by the Pac presidents, it's a non-starter and always will be. It has nothing to do with BYU's athletic program, facilities and certainly not BYUtv. Instead, it has everything to do with BYU being a religiously affiliated school, which is anathema in places like Palo Alto and Berkeley, and its no-Sunday-play rule, which is as absolute and non negotiable as anything on this planet. BYU will drop intercollegiate athletics altogether before ever agreeing to play on Sundays. Compare that to something one president (Stanford, IIRC) said about 10-15 years ago, in a veiled reference to BYU: "We'll play any time. We'll offend anyone." If it were solely about athletics, BYU would have gotten the nod over Utah. 2. If the Pac can't persuade Texas and Oklahoma to come, their expansion options are pretty much walled off. UCLA and Cal will never admit a Cal State school such as Fresno State, San Jose State or San Diego State. Boise State is a non-starter. Ditto the rest of the MWC except for possibly UNLV, if it had a much better stadium. The WAC just completed its final football season and is not an option. That pretty much means its a Big-12 raid or nothing. Given the sweetheart deal (unequal revenue sharing, plus the Longhorn Network) that Texas has, I'd bet on nothing.
