RE: OT: Premium TV Shows
Boardwalk Empire is boring as hell compared to the two you are watching now. Homeland and GOT are basically the only two I watch.

I know it's not "premium", but Justified on FX is also really, really good. Breaking Bad and Mad Men are excellent (Mad Men can be slow). Veep, from HBO, is pretty funny.

Veep, from HBO, is pretty funny. I've heard good things about The Borgias, but haven't been able to watch it yet. Get ready for lots of cussing in Deadwood, but it is an awesome show... Curb Your Enthusiasm is also very, very funny.

Hah cussing. After watching Game of Thrones where there are boobs in every scene, cussing is the least of my worries. I like Curb...Im waiting for the new season of Arrested Development to come out amruther24 wrote: IrishfromA2 wrote: I havent seen Deadwood or Sapranos. I didn't think you were a delicate flower, but it's good to know what you're getting in to. Did you watch Friday Night Lights? I think it's better than any show we've listed including The Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

My wife became obsessed with FNL during her maternity leave...so Ive seen every episode multiple times. Really good show except for they seem to win or lose very game they play on a miracle last second play amruther24 wrote: IrishfromA2 wrote: Hah cussing. What is Girls about? Watched the pilot of House of Lies and actually like the premise of the show, but so much unnecessary sex. JerfyT wrote: Girls Shameless House of Lies The Newsroom And Homeland as well

Re: OT: Premium TV Shows
i would rank them like this:
1) californication 2) boardwalk empire 3) curb your enthusiasm 4) game of thrones
i was so excited to watch homeland. i watched most of the pilot, and gave up on it because it seemed so watered down and corny to me. i mean, aaron sorkin would've murdered it, i'm sure, but i felt like the writing was just awful. maybe i should re-visit it.
on cable, i also really like breaking bad, mad men, louie, and wilfred.

However, it's not for everyone... Eh, I wouldn't characterize it as that. It's a good show and it has funny moments, but as I said, it's not for everyone. Part of the premise is that these girls are sort of trust fund babies living in New York trying to find themselves. The show makes fun of that type of lifestyle and how those that live it feel entitled to success even if they don't work hard for it. I don't know, you could give it a try. I didn't mention it because it's been pretty polarizing.
