Recruiting Question for Tim or Gavi...

Recruiting Question for Tim or Gavi...

How many spots do we have left?

We have potentially 6 guys visiting that are difference makers correct?   How do we make room for these guys?

27 is the limit as it stands right now with no 5th year players. Assuming Martin, Watt, and fox are back. We can take two more.

We also have a few players whose football careers might be done. Nicolas, Hegarty, Welch plus well probably have a few transfers.

By all counts we have 2-3 spots left.  For months mods have said ND is shooting for 24-25 in the class.  Not sure where each one rates, though I am relatively confident EV is #1 and after that there will be some give and take if they over shoot the 25-man goal.

Welch's career might be over after an ACL tear?!

Hegarty will be back ready to go for Spring. I have not heard anything Welch not playing again.

Maybe you should learn math.

80 players on scholarship
22 seniors & 5th year guys
22 recruits
Leaves 5 unassigned rides
22 + 5 = 27

Those 5 unassigned rides will be divided between new recruits and 5th years. Depending on what the doctors do and transfers.

my math also came out to 27 total spots if you dont bring back any 5th years. A few others have had that number at 28.

i have not heard anything about welch but didnt roberson have to retire from football for the same injury. So its not far fetched.

Re: Recruiting Question for Tim or Gavi...

ok.  let's spin this.  What would you guys do?

I would not bring back Carlo or Fox.  We have some very good athletic LB's below them and passing on the talent visiting to keep one of these guys is a mistake.

O-Lineman are like gold...  have to keep Martin & Watt.

I hope Kelly does not take a QB in next seasons class.  We are short scholarships at D-Line and HomeRun recruits because we literally have a stable of QB's.

Re: Recruiting Question for Tim or Gavi...

I don't see ND taking more than 3 more recruits. The reason they are bringing in all these kids, and going hard after so many more is to make sure they don't get left at the alter like they did last year.

Kelly will take 1 QB each year, without a doubt.

I agree with this entire post, especially regarding Carlo and Fox.

Im pretty sure Roberson destroyed his knee on a couple of different occasions. 1 ACL tear shouldnt end anyone's career unless the surgery/recovery somehow goes terribly wrong.

Fox is coming back. Period. Who fills in for fox and Carlo if they both go?

Ya, I need math...OR I could listen to what the mods and recruiting analysts on this site have said many times for months on this board.  Or maybe they should defer to you...rolleyes

Deeb(similar to Carlo)
Jarrett Grace
Kendall Moore
Romeo @ 6'4 240 could move inside.

Is it a forgone conclusion that Doug Randolph will play outside?

Re: Recruiting Question for Tim or Gavi...

Actually no one knows what the number is. But we can go as high as 27 if we don't bring back any 5th years.

Martin & Watt are probably coming back.

Everyone else comes down to need. If Isaac, Fiits, and Willis all want in. I think CBK will take them. If EV then wants in I think CBK will make room.

We could move Torri Hunter to a baseball ride for his freshman year. Then flip him back to football in 2014. Which we were planning on doing with Yeatman and LAX.
