Prediction: Our Defense is going to absolutely dominate
#1 Notre Dame 16not #1 alabama 3 We are going to force several turnovers and dominate so much that we won't even need to breakout offensively. This is going to be a statement game

Alabama has lost 12 fumbles and 3 interception (2 were tips) in 13 games. Good luck with " several " of anything. --------------------------------------------- --- NDJewBlood wrote: #1 Notre Dame 16not #1 alabama 3 We are going to force several turnovers and dominate so much that we won't even need to breakout offensively. our defense is going to do work..... I think though, that it's going to be our offense, our run game, that'll dictate the pace of the game.

Re: Prediction: Our Defense is going to absolutely dominate
Points you do not give a rip about and do not want to hear, but I am obligated to give you.
1. Before you go into your "tougher" ND schedule, in the NCAA SOS, ND is .586 and Alabama is .548. Whoopee, that is going to be a game changer difference.
2. ND fans like to point out that ND is #1 in scoring defense, and Alabama is #2. Ok, let's look at that. ND played 12 games, and Alabama played 13. Let's look at Alabama's first 12 games, the number ND stopped at, and see what we get. ND--10.3 pts per game given up, Alabama--9.2 pts per game given up. So you can thank Alabama giving up 28 pts in that extra game in the SEC title game for putting ND to #1 in scoring defense.
3. You are aware that in all the other major defensive categories in the NCAA, total defense, rushing defense, pass defense, and pass efficiency defense, Alabama is ranked higher in all those categories than Notre Dame. I feel like you already knew that.
4. To the offense. As good as your offense is, it is still ranked 10 spots lower than Alabama in the NCAA in all 4 major offensive categories, rushing offense, passing offense, scoring offense, and total offense. Alabama has two 1,000+ yard rushers, ND has zero. As far as Golson running on Alabama, Denard Robinson has 1,200 yds rushing on the season, and he got 27 against Alabama. Golson has 305 yds on the season rushing. As far a passing goes. McCarron is #2 in passing efficiency, and Golson is #62. That is all I will say about that. 5. As good as Golson had improved in the last half of the season, you still have to remember he is a red shirt freshman QB who will be matching wits with a Nick Saban defense. I don't know how much freedom Kelly gives him to check off at the line of scrimmage, but I hope he has learned the tricks of checking off. Every time a QB checks off at the line of scrimmage against Alabama's defense, Saban and DC Smart immediately have the defense check out of what they were showing the QB, by then the QB is out of time to do anything else.
What do all these numbers mean? Nothing, except that for you to expect a domination is absurd. You know posts like this are very risky. If you win, you look like a genius, if you lose, you have set yourself up for a slaughter.
Here's to a good game.

Here's my answer to ALL of your points Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Western Carolina, Auburn… Congrats on the padded stats you acquired from 9 really crappy games.

Re: Prediction: Our Defense is going to absolutely dominate
Hey Doc,
1. - That actually isn't the SOS. What you posted is the opponent's win percentage. The mythical SOS is different dependent upon who creates it. Sargarin has ND's ranked 27th, while Bama's is ranked 35th. However, just based on the wins/losses of the opponents, ND's opponents were 86 and 68, for a winning percentage of .559; while Bama's opponents were 84 and 79 (including a FCS school), for a winning percentage of .515.
2. Sure, Bama had the extra game, but they also played an FCS school. So, lets take the FCS school out of there and replace it with Georgia and lo and behold, your scoring defense is even worse, at 11.58 p/game.
3. Yes, slightly better stats with an easier schedule. Go figure.
4. Again, yes, your offense has better stats, with an easier schedule.
5. Saban won't be on the field. Your D has shown a weakness to a mobile QB. (Not really much of a weakness, but a slight weakness is better than no weakness at all).
I hope for a good game.

you also only played 3 good teams... and you got spanked by one of them. If "mad hater" wasnt the worst coach in America LSU woulda beat your arses too. DocSoloman wrote: Alabama has lost 12 fumbles and 3 interception (2 were tips) in 13 games. Good luck with " several " of anything.

2. I like how you compare the first 12 games and not realize that you played Western Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, these teams suck!!!!!! 3. This is true... but see your schedule again. Must be hard to shut down Florida Atlantic, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky. 4. It must have been hard to score 40+ a game against Florida Atlantic, Western Carolina, Western Kent and Kentucky. Wow. It blows my mind how you can type this ignorance and believe it. Esp with 8 home games and never traveling more than 200 miles. You cannot even compare ND and Bama. Re: Prediction: Our Defense is going to absolutely dominate
I won't post the research/facts because I know I am right. If doc wants to check what I am about to say, he can spend his time. ND's offensive production, especially rushing, was agains MUCH better defenses than bama. Hell, the vaunted GA team with "all those pros" were 79th in rushing defense going into the SEC championship game. The SEC D has sucked b@lls in bowl games. ND has went against 4 of the top 15 rushing Ds in the nation. On and on. Look it up and then come back with comparing nearly equal offensive stats between the two. ND has done it against stronger Ds
