For all the silly bowl comparisons and transitive theories...

For all the silly bowl comparisons and transitive theories...

No team proved that logic false more than the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes. I remember watching that game, pulling for Ohio State to stuff "The U" and ultimately head them down the path of demise that leads us to the Miami of today. Looking back, I can't believe I rooted for Ohio State. But, for all the idiots who want to use transitive theory to discredit any of the wins we've had, by that logic, Ohio State in 2002 stood no chance against Miami.

Cincinnati (unranked) - Won 23-19 - Cincy finished 7-7 and lost their bowl game to...wait for it....North Texas.

Northwestern (unranked) - Won 27-16. NW was a pathetic 3-9 this year.

Purdue (unranked) - Won 10-6. Purdue finished 7-6.

Illinois (unranked) - Won 23-16 in OT. Illinois finished 5-7 and put 28 points on Michigan....who Ohio State only beat 14-9.

My friend, who is an O$U fan (one of the good ones-he also roots for ND) said this ND team reminds him a lot of the 2002 Buckeye season.

Dang smelly, since your crow eating statement concerning Ole Miss/Pitt, you've reversed your stance on this matter...lol

Wonder if Pitt and OU had won, would you still believe this nonsense you posted. Need salt with that crow?-

This ND team has more character and class than the bag of scum OSU team had in 02. Can't believe you would compare your team to those low-lifes. Even I wouldn't stoop that low

I'm not exactly sure what my "crow eating statement" was on Ole Miss/Pitt. Can you show that to me? Better yet, can you show me where I confidently said that Pitt would beat Ole Miss?

I don't recall doing either, but the more time you spend trying to find it, the less time you do talking.

1986 Penn State vs. Miami

I guess the moral of the story is it's good to play Miami in a big game when they're a huge favorite.

The next best thing is to play IN Miami when the other team is a huge favorite.

Hahahahahahahaha! Wow...is this your big moment of vindication on the interwebs?

I think you are grossly underestimating the use of the word "think", especially since it was in response to someone who knew, without any doubt, that Ole Miss was going to win the game...who also probably assumed the same level of confidence in Florida and LSU.

I think the moral of the is story is what happens after kickoff may have some bearing on the final score.  noidea

I'm assuming ND has no chance versus Alabama, but feel free to check back for updates tomorrow night.

I never declared who I thought would win, unlike you, who offered up the crow. You ask for the quote, I gave it to you. although i did notice that you had deleted the original post.. nice try..lol It didn't work and I found it.hahahaha

Not bad for a dumb redneck from Alabama. We ain't real smart down here, but we can play football. You will realize this when you are turning off your TV set at halftime.

I never deleted an original post. I haven't deleted any posts from your board that I know of, and I certainly didn't go back and delete something after the fact to cover something up. You obviously don't know me but I don't do that sh!t. You still have yet to prove your point. I never said they would win, I simply asked if you were ready to eat crow if they lose. Why? Because I was ready for if they did lose, for the excuses to start flying in about how Ole Miss "didn't want to be there." I guess I could say the same thing for Pitt, but I'm not that dumb to even think of absurd things like that.

So now that you've wasted time off of your life proving literally, absolutely nothing, changing the outcome of nothing, here we are. You're right, you can play some football down there. I know I lived in the South and grew up there. They also do great Civil War reinactments and for all intents and purposes, still think it's going on. Better yet, I now know you're a dumb redneck from Alabama, who isn't very smart, and I didn't even have to say, imply, or think that.  wink

You stated, If Pitt beats Ole Miss (and I think they will) I will serve up some crow.

FYI it's reenactment ... Grammar wink

RE: For all the silly bowl comparisons and transitive theories..

Now, regarding the original post...what worries me the most is I go back to Bama's '92 NC against Miami. The Canes had won numerous NCs, were being talked about as a dynasty, and highly favored. No one really gave us much of a chance because we had played what many considered a weak schedule, had a lot of close, unimpressive wins, etc., etc. Catch my drift?

We proceeded to play the game of our lives, kick the crap out of them (and their Heisman Trophy winner), and won going away.

As a Life Long Bama Fan, I just hope our young team has indeed learned a lesson from the 2010 season and play to the standard they have set for themselves.

Here's to a great game from both teams!

Think. If that's all you got, I'll consider myself vindicated. I did, however,  swear I saw you at Kennesaw Mountain working a regiment.

I agree. That's why I posted it.

While I think this game is closer on paper than Ohio State and Miami in 2002, I think there's still separation betweeen Alabama and ND, not to mention Saban knows what he's doing and this team has been there before.

We can only hope the same fate as Miami, and you can only hope the opposite...that Miami actually did what they should have done.

In terms of winning without flash, yes. However, ND's offense is vastly different than the 2002 OSU team.  Tressel would run on 1st & 2nd downs and if that isn't enough, he would run on the 3rd as long as it's 3rd and short. He didn't mind punting the ball away and had great patience and discipline.

That ultimately drove tOSU fans insane...

I would say that they didn't know what they had in him, but now they have something better.
