Why....
Does Pitt ALWAYS seem to play us close, no matter how good, or bad we are?
They are awful.

They are awful. Always been that way, even when I was young. Pitt has always been tough against us, especially when they're at home.

RE: Why....
They lost to Louisville 45-35. Louisville lost to Rutgers. Pitt beat Rutgers soundly. Louisville beat Florida.
The transitive theory never works, although we always pretend we want it to.
I'm puzzled though on why every year, no matter how good or bad we are, we have a close game with Pitt.
The last time we consistently beat Pitt soundly was under Holtz.

Re: Why....
It's an imagination thing. ND hasn't been an elite football team in a loooong time, Pitt's better than you give them credit for, and ND actually does beat the snot out of Pitt sometimes.

Touche. But yes. And no. Considering that even during those 20 years ND has some pretty good teams at times, Pitt still played us close.

RE: Why....
Seems I read on here that Pitt would handle Ole Miss because, you know, the SEC is overrated. Hope you guys weren't measuring stick this game like some wanted to do with Tex A&M/OU.
If so, sorry! The team that took you to 3 OT's is getting sled drilled by a team Bama destroyed.

You know, those ones that the reason they lost is "because they didn't want to be there"? Funny how when the SEC wins a bowl game its a mark on how great they are. When they lose one, the excuses come out on how the team didn't want to be there, or wasn't playing for anything, so they didn't care. Pitt gave Louisville a better showing than Florida. What does that tell you? As for Pitt vs us...I have no idea. Those bastards always play us close. You could put the Ole Miss players in gold helmets and they'd score 21 points in these last 12 minutes, tie the game and take Ole Miss into triple OT.

RE: Why....
There is a whole thread about how the SEC is overrated because they haven't been "dominate". Well, A&M was dominate, so far Ole Miss looks pretty dominate.
Guess what! They have looked Dominate against ND's marquee win OU, and a team that took ND to 3 OT's, could have won if not for a missed FG and a blown call fr not flagging ND for 2 players with the same # jersey.
You guys are hypocrites. If these games had been reversed, this bd would be lite up like a christmas tree...lol

Yeah, well pretty good isn't good enough beat Larry Fitzgerald and Jonathan Baldwin by forty. The Marinos move on, still Pitt insists on offering scholarships to football players. smelltheglove wrote:

I'm not hanging my hat on anything other than ALABAMA. You guys are the ones talking measuring stick this measuring stick that.
I've read multi times on this bd how Ole Miss is junk. Well, that junk looks pretty good today against one of the 9 bowl teams the Irish beat.... but hey, its ok, i understand. If I were a ND fan I would be searching for reasons to believe my team had a chance too.

Because you my friend are the man who posted "after Pitt beats Ole MISS, we could come back and eat crow". Maybe you can salt that crow and get it down.
I've read about ND's SOS..lol 3-6 in bowls is it? 2 games verses common opponents, 0-2? Man up and admit you were wrong. I never stated these games reflect outcome of Monday night. You all did. You better hope you were wrong.

You could put the Ole Miss players in gold helmets and they'd score 21 points in these last 12 minutes, tie the game and take Ole Miss into triple OT. I didn't hear any Bama fans 'crying over' any other SEC team losing. Bama is the king of the SEC, and it is the other teams you hear shouting SEC, SEC, SEC! We don't ride anybody's tails, we wear the coat. Most often you will hear Bama fans shout out 'Rammer Jammer!' If you aren't familiar with our chant, be sure to stayed tuned after the game Monday night my friend! So now that your OU/A&M comparison failed miserably, what say you about the Pitt team that took ND to 3 OTs and probably should have won in regualtion and in OT being skull drug by a lower level SEC team that we defeated soundly? Oh wait, you made sure that was covered by starting this thread. A pre-emptive strike that is actually pretty weak. 'Why does Pitt always play us close?' lol

RE: Why....
uhhhhh yea their D is horrible!!!!! I just watched the entire game and 11 blind kids could score 20pts on them. To answer the question though some teams just know each other very well so it's always a tough game. LSU always plays us tough (even though they are actually good) and Mississippi teams usually play us tough. It's just one of those things. A win is a win either way. irishfan84 wrote: Pitt wasn't as horrible as they've played. yea they lost to an FCS team, but their D isn't trash.
