Re: HERD 38th In Coaches Poll

Looks like last week we were 37th with 27 points.

And three teams in the receiving votes ahead of us lost. Central Florida, Oklahoma State and Miami FLA.

We lost a significant number of votes in the AP poll this week as well. From 41 in preseason to 18 this week.

They know what they are doing.

I am telling you right now, they have to keep us as far down as possible now, especially with those other teams losing.

I thought UCF received zero votes.

Three teams that were ahead of us last week lost, and we didn't move up, is what he's saying.

Re: HERD 38th In Coaches Poll

What I am saying is THEY, as in the voters know they have to keep teams like us down right now, because in about 6 weeks, when we are still undefeated, they wont be able to, so if we stay unranked until like week 7, then makes it harder for us to come anywhere near that top 4.

Also, by keeping us behind a one loss AAC team now, that ensures an AAC team still has a shot at losing another game and staying ahead of us for that other spot given to the non Power 5 conference team.

I see what you're saying Aaron and agree to an extent. However I know if I were a casual fan or a voter and heard all this hype about a team and how they have this heisman QB then see what I saw Saturday I would probably drop them too. Cato was something like 14 for 18, 180 yards, and 3 tDs in the 1st half only to have 4 for 12 and 81 yards in the second half.

The pollsters look at it like we should have went in there and obliterated Little Miami and the fact that we didn't tells them we are not that good right now. WE HAVE TO DESTROY TEAMS. Period. If we want to climb the polls, especailly with our SOS we have to take it to teams each and every week. Otherwise we will be lucky to get past #20 in the polls.

We did not look like a Top25 team and Cato did not look like a Heisman QB out there Saturday.

If we win everygame 19 - 18 and win them all, we will be ranked much higher than 20.

At the end of the day, people saw the halftime score of 28-3, and they saw it ended 42 to 27, games like that happen all the time, every year, I would be willing to bet no more than 10 voters in either poll combined even watched the second half of our game.

Re: HERD 38th In Coaches Poll

It doesn't really matter. 40 votes or 10 votes, we're only getting on less than 10% of the ballots, and that's not going to change until we're 5,6,7-0. Teams like South Carolina lose and fall, but not off the polls. People behind us with big wins will jump us and take the votes. We just have to be patient and win games.

Re: HERD 38th In Coaches Poll

Aaron you're exactly right. Just keep winning regardless of score and being unbeaten is the thing that will get us where we need to be regardless of score.

There are still majority of votes west of Mississippi that still don't know much about us except hey, Marshall must have a pretty decent QB. But when those same people look in week 7 and see Marshall is 1 of 10 teams left unbeaten that has a lot more credibility.

As far as coaches polls, they don't put too much credibility on score because some will be on the end of those beatings and don't want a school running up the score to try and get votes, that's not how it works.

Most important of everything is stay unbeaten, by doing that, that will get us in the top 25 by the midpoint of season. That then puts game highlights on all football programs, name is constantly on bottom line all week long, and are talked about every Saturday morning. Do that, then keep winning and finish unbeaten then we'll get where we need to be.

Analyzing these polls after week 1 just is added stress your blood pressure doesn't need.
