Huge Hit to ODU Offense

"Old Dominion lost perhaps its second best football player on Monday when coach
Bobby Wilder dismissed wide receiver Larry Pinkard for an unspecified violation
of team rules.

Wilder also announced that wide receiver Blair Roberts, ODU's third-best receiver last season, will be redshirted this fall. Roberts underwent back surgery last week, he said.

Altogether, ODU will be
without five wide receivers that a few months ago were expected to play this
season, a huge blow for a team preparing for its debut in Conference USA and the
Football Bowl Subdivision."

Five WRs gone!?!  Their offense is really going to struggle if five WRs that were supposed to be their top WRs are all gone then that is basically your WR corp.

Considering their strength was said to be their air attack, I'd say this pretty well defangs them.

This defitely hurts them for sure.

Add that to the fact their defense is coming off of a 80 point shortened game against UNC

Re: Huge Hit to ODU Offense

I thought this game was going to be a blowout to the tune of 58-20 something but now I don't see them scoring 17 points. I was talking to some of the ODU fans on the CSNbbs CUSA board and they were telling me that now they are resorting to taking last year's backup QB and an incoming freshman QB and shifting them to WR. That is a bad deal. Losing all top 5 targets is going to be really bad for their QB.
