4 team playoff

4 team playoff

Yeah, I know it's nearly impossible for us to make the actual playoff, and the following scenerio is as well but it's summer and I'm bored so...

If we scored 50+ points in every game and our D gave up 10 points or less in every game, would those gaudy numbers warrant a CHANCE at being top 4?

You'd have to think that would cause someone to notice.

Re: 4 team playoff

I think to make it we would

Have to win every game by two touchdowns or more
Have to have Cato in the top 3 in the Heisman race from about week four on
All other non AQ teams would have to have two losses
The SEC would have to beat up on each other and all have two losses AFTER the SEC title game
Then, out of the PAC 12, Big 12, Big 10 and ACC, three of the champs will have to have 2 losses
Pray

I think being top four would require winning by more than two or more touchdowns, I'm thinking we'd need complete domination in every game. I'm unsure about the Cato top 3 in Heisman voting, maybe/maybe not.  Agreed on all other points

Re: 4 team playoff

There is one big factor to keep us out of the playoff outside of the obvious ones. I won't say his name as it will bring "those" people here but with a certain AD on the selection committee he would poison the well for sure.

That being said for Marshall to be in the discuss THIS season we would have to completely blow all our opponents off the field in such convincable fashion that we look so far and above better than the teams we are playing. We can't have any close games or scares. I would say we would have to score 50+ every game and hold each team under 24 points.

Re: 4 team playoff

There are 2 things that are most important to have any shot.

14-0 heading into bowl game.

And 4 of the 5 P5 conference champs must have 2 or more losses.

Margin of victory will be talked about for 24-48 hours after a game.

It's after week 6-7 when every week the "remaining unbeatens" get regular banter tossed around for the entire week and on gamedays, that's what will get the recognition.

Just win, and hope everyone else loses a couple

Not to pick but we'd be 13-0 heading into the bowl game.

Right

14 - 0 heading into the championship game after we win the semifinal game against FSU
