Marshall and TV Post Rating (1 vote)

i am getting really really tired of never being able to watch a Marshall game on TV.  I was only able to catch a few games this year....mostly on CBS Sports.  Its like pulling teeth to catch a Marshall bball game on tv.

what is being done about this?  or are we just screwed when it comes to watching the Herd?

Pretty much is what it is right now.

Not sure why more games arent picked up locally, definitely frustrating regardless of what the explanation and reason is.

Just looked at the schedule a whopping 9 out of 31 regular season games were on TV.  10 if you count the Villanova game on ESPN3.     bangheadbangheadbanghead

I don't recall ever having that many basketball games on TV. If so it wasn't national network games it was local. If local TV isn't picking up games that is not the conference problem. I am not a fan of the games on CSS but we do get several games on TV. If games were on locally or had better Internet coverage things would be better. I pulled up an OVC game last night on their web service and the quality was much better than CUSA. They or at least the two locations I pulled up get it with providing coverage.

When we were with ESPN there would be about 10 games on ESPN and those games always included Memphis as one of the teams.

It is a conference problem. C-USA wants to charge Memphis $100K to air a few conference game on their local PBS station.

This is not a conference problem. This conference is getting us more money than ever via TV. The issue is elsewhere. Not sure who. But someone needs to get us on local tv. That is not the job of the conference.

Conference owns the rights to CUSA games. Marshall can't sell them as they see fit. It falls on the conference.

absolutely. I've watch every game that I wasn't attending there all year long. Then plug the laptop in the flat screen TV and crank on the surround sound. What more could I want?

so....for us that have never been to this site....all we need to do is go to the site, click on the game and its up and running?  or, is there anything we need to do first?

also, when i click the schedule under the basketball menu on the top of this page....there is nothing.  does this HerdHaven site have a basketball schedule.  i know there is more traffic on the Herdnation rivals site, but i like his one more.

that's all. You can find the basketball schedule at Herdzone.com

Sometimes the game doesn't show as available until tip off time.

It is a conference issue. We chose an inferior product for more money. Yeah, the money is nice but at what cost in terms of national exposure. The CSS production is substandard and the commentators are not very good. Hell, on Saturday one of the commentators referred to us as the Mountaineers. Really?

Marshall had more exposure in the days of THN and the Sunshine Network. Now if you dont have every sports channel known to man, you cant watch our games. And to have to watch our games on computer is laughable - wreeks of bush league. And I have Direct TV Choice Extra!

Advise to CUSA - next time go with ESPN, even if its less money. AT least we will get more exosure and it will help our teams in the long run with bowls, NCAA tourney and NIT invites.

Re: Marshall and TV

The problems with ESPN (1) most games will be on weeknights..see MAC (2) ESPN pays less money and (3) CUSA and ESPN do not have a good relationship with each other.

not to mention most of those ESPN games get moved to ESPN 3 now anyway.

What does exposure get you right now? Doesnt help recruiting. These kids are on the computer all the time, or watching games on their phones.

No way you pass up the money, not in our situation.
