It was great. I thought we utilized the pick and roll really well tonight and defense was pretty good. We did lack some on the boards but we controlled our turnovers and forced them into a lot. I am not sure I ever remember a team being called for so many walking calls. Like ECU had Called on them.

I agree, tonight was a pleasure to watch, that is as calm and cool as I have ever seen Deandre play and he was outstanding. Hope we can take it on the road now!! Go Herd!!

First time this year we've played a team that a couple of our bigs weren't afraid to go in and mix it up with and East Carolina couldn't score on nickle night in a whore house! Put those two things with East Carolina not having figured out how to switch or play a screen. They had guys doubling, not doubling, switching smalls on bigs and it led to 52 points in the paint.

Also it looked for the first time this year after the hot start we played with confidence from start to finish. Hopefully keep that going, but going to be rough this week heading to Hattiesburg and Memphis.

Kane played like a point guard tonight. If we could some how some way get Manning and Boykins into the flow offensively, this team could quickly go to the next level.

Played incredible defense.

as was mentioned above, we used the pick and roll more than I've seen in many years of Herd hoops. It was the best offensive flow in the Herrion era. Kane was a magician with the ball. Too bad he caught some of our bigs sleeping in the paint. He should have had 2-3 more assists had they been awake.

I still felt we played pretty sloppy, but considering that, I was still impressed beating a team like that. I will be waiting to see if we can win games like that on the road, which I am fairly skeptical about at the moment.

What parts were sloppy?

With the exception of free throws, we shot nearly 50% from the floor, had 19 assists, only 13 turnovers, and 9 steals.

Outside of the first ten minutes, they pretty much matched us in scoring through the rest of the game. We threw a number of passes out of bounds or somebody couldn't catch the ball, still missed a number of easy baskets right from point blank range, and we lose at least three or four easy rebounds per game because our own guys are wrestling each other for the ball. While defense was much improved, our guys have trouble with even the crappiest pick. It's like they no clue whether they should be switching or not, and by the time they go with someone, the ball is past them and driving to the hoop or someone is wide open for a jumper or layup.

These things might not mean much when you outscore the other team by 25 points in the first ten minutes, but it's unlikely we'll really have a start like that the rest of the season. In a fairly close game, these little things are going to add up quickly. Overall, it was a good win, but don't get on here and act like we are suddenly a top 25 team.

Who got on here and acted like we were a top 25 team?

Seriously?

You missed a pretty dominating effort by the way, apparently.

First ten minutes, we were dominate, and it had as much to do with them not being able to hit  anything. Like I said, after that, they matched us the rest of the game. We won easily, but there's no reason to ignore the problems we still have. We may get around it at home, but we are going to struggle on the road if it continues. That also means problems for the CUSA tourney.

At the ten minute mark we were up 20 to 4. With about 8 minutes to go or so in the second half we were up 29.

We only outscored them by one point in the second half, and according to gametracker, we only had 2 bench points that entire half. That's not a good sign.

Ive always found it a bit ironic, the statement you just made. You make that comment, and its ok as you are looking a negative light.

Marshall loses by 20, i make a comment that we won the second half by 10, and Im told that games are played in two halves for a reason, and to take off my green glasses and look at reality.

Well, which is it??

You're not making any sense. I never said we didn't win, by any means, or were even close to losing. We just aren't going to continue to do so if we play the way we have played most of the year and at least half of that game. It has nothing to do with the negative light, but just a look from a realistic standpoint. Many of our issues are going to get exploited elsewhere in conference play.
