Are we allowed to talk about this here? If not just delete this post.

We seem to have a pipeline from State College to Huntington. Hopefully with him and Smith and Shuler we wont see much drop off at the WR position. In my opinion Shuler was the go to guy last year anyway. So we have our big impact guy coming back.

The article may be premium but it doesn't mean it can't be talked about here.

I don't know anything about the recruit in question (although here and Herd Nation have now put in premium stories) but I do worry about building long-term success based on transfers/jucos.

He will be filling in a position of need, outside WR, while we wait for Allen and Wilkins to develop a little more, and to be honest, they may beat him out.

Chuck Landon made it official 2 hours ago via Twitter..

Marshall officials confirmed WR Shawney Kersey has transferred from Penn State. Immediately eligible with one year to play.

Re: Big News

We will see how it plays out.

Sometimes transfers work, most times they don't live up to the hype.

I dont know if it is most of the time.

I mean last year we took four.

Three started in our defensive backfield, two were two of our top 5 tacklers, Thomas ended as one of our best corners, and the fourth Devon Smith, was injured and we get him this year.

You're talking about one year, over the last decade I'd feel safe in saying that more often than not JC's have contributed little to our program.

RE: Big News

The problem is a lot of people think the JUCOs and transfers are going to suddenly be All-Americans when they get here. If they simply provide more depth to our team, that's a plus, and I think we've been able to do that as long as they stick around for more than a week or two. They don't necessarily have to be major impact players. I will agree, though, it would be nice if we could better minimize some of the attrition and have more players go through the program for 4 or five years. Unfortunately, that just isn't very realistic anymore. It doesn't take much for a player to start looking elsewhere.

I wasnt really talking about the JUCOS in this case iherdya, just talking about the transfers.

We have had pretty good success with transfers from other schools, excluding Willy Korn.
