So that probably means SDSU wont be going either.

I don't see it stopping any of the C-USA teams though.

It was never a good move for Boise of SDSU. On the other hand for Memphis, UCF, Tulane, SMU, ECU and Houston it just put the old C-USA back together.

USF, Yukon, Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF, SMU , Houston, NAVY, and ECU along with Tulane and Temple is a pretty good league. I still say TMU would go to that conference in a second.

I think I read somewhere that SDSU can leave the BE without penalty if Boise were to back out.

It will be interesting to see what the BE does now. It wouldn't be surprising if the MWC tries to go after Houston and SMU.

Saw on ESPN the MW is going to pay Boises BE exit fee and is going to allow Boise to wear their all blue uniforms on the blue turf.

In November, ESPN reported Boise State was still reconsidering its decision to join the Big East and discussing the possibility with the MWC.

Boise State becomes the second school to announce it was joining the Big East only to change its mind and never play in the Big East. TCU also planned to join the Big East but instead paid an exit fee and joined the Big 12.

Besides the possibility of losing San Diego State, sources told ESPN that Houston and SMU, scheduled to join the Big East next season, are among four possible teams the Mountain West may target, along with Tulsa and UTEP. The Mountain West will look to add a 12th member by 2014, sources said.

More C-USA schools being targeted.  I hope the Mountain West takes all the C-USA West of the Mississippi.

In a perfect world, I'd like to see the NBE collapse and then try to get in on a new conference with most of the former CUSA members including Cincy and UConn.

Pipe dream, I know, but it is still probably the best thing I can imagine for us in the messed up world of the NCAA.

I'm just not all that thrilled that CUSA has basically become the Super Sun Belt.

Honestly, I think the best road for us is the upcoming iteration of CUSA. Less competition = more wins. See MAC years circa 97-02

I agree with Aaron I just want the HERD back on top no matter what conference they are in..

I see the new C-USA watered down even more at the bottom but at the top they are just as strong. The additions of La Tech and Middle Tennessee were the best pick ups of the entire expansion. I think people are going to find out really fast it's not going to be as easy to beat those two teams as some think. La Tech is on par with everyone that just left. I'm glad they will eventually be in the WEST and we wont have to play them every year.

Right, Boise and SDSU had a clause in their deal with the BE that they could leave at any point, for free, if there were no other BE teams west of the rockies, well with Boise gone, SDSU can get out for free if they want...

Anyway, Boise absolutely raped the MWC. They get their own TV deal, separate than the rest of the conference. Instead of all their bowl payouts going into the MWC that will be paid out equally to members, they get to skim 50% off the top before sharing with the conference. The conference can NEVER negotiate a TV deal on their behalf/including them. The conference has a bonus plan for schools that plan on national TV, and even more for TV on Saturday, since Boise is free to negotiate their own tv deal, they can set it up so that they reach the MAXIMUM in this bonus payout to make around $6m a year more than anyone else in the MWC in this bonus plan...all in all, Boise will probably make $12m a year more minimum than anyone else in the MWC.

SDSU is stuck in limbo right now from what I read. SDSU wants to return to the Mountain West but the Mountain West is weighing their options with other schools like Tulsa, UTEP, Houston and SMU.

The MWC isn't in limbo, in the agreement Boise signed with the MWC the conference can't take anyone other than SDSU prior to Jan 31, and if SDSU wants to join the MWC has to let them. It was a goodwill gesture on Boise's part because when they initially left SDSU went out of their way to help Boise's non-football sports get into the Big West Conference.

The only way SDSU doesn't end up back in the MWC is if the SCHOOL, not the CONFERENCE, decides they don't want to join.

And I didnt say the MWC was in limbo.. San Diego State is.  San Diego State can play in the BE but they don't want to and SDSU is not in the MWC top 5 to join that conference.

San Diego State played a critical role in getting Boise State’s other sports programs into the Big West, a key part of the decision to join the Big East in football.

Kustra and Coyle have become close with their San Diego State counterparts. So the Broncos insisted that the Mountain West find room for the Aztecs, who are scheduled to join the Big East in July.

The new agreement calls for the Mountain West to extend an invitation to San Diego State to join the league before offering membership to any other school. The option expires Jan. 31.

“We feel like San Diego State was there for Boise State and we ought to be there for them,” Kustra said.

SDSU doesnthave to be in the MWC's top 5 to come on board, they can come on board if THEY want to not only if the conference wants them.
